Techniques are described herein for efficient processing of Time-Division Multiplexing (TDM) based signals. In one example embodiment, a system includes a first TDM card, a second TDM card, and a processor in communication with the first TDM card and the second TDM card. The second TDM card hosts an aggregation process configured to aggregate a first TDM based signal and a second TDM based signal into a combined TDM based signal. The processor is configured to obtain a packetized version of the first TDM based signal from the first TDM card and provide the packetized version of the first TDM based signal to the second TDM card. The processor is further configured to prompt one or more packet cards to output packets based on the combined TDM based signal.

Efficient processing of time-division multiplexing based signals

Techniques for emulating a time division multiplexed (TDM) circuit using a packet switched network are described. First and second packet nodes are installed in a communication network. The first TDM node and second TDM node form a first span in the TDM circuit. First and second fiber connections are disconnected from the first and second TDM nodes, and connected to the first and second packet nodes. A portion of TDM data transmission across the first span is emulated using a packet connection formed by the first packet node and the second packet node. The TDM data transmission includes transport overhead data, and the packet connection emulates the transport overhead data.

In one embodiment, a network device is configured to generate a control protocol packet containing a source address of the network device and a destination address. The network device is configured to translate the source address to a interface device address of a first communication interface device included in the network device. The control protocol packet can be transmitted over the network by a second communication interface device included in the network device for receipt by a device based on the destination address.

Methods and apparatus are provided for transmitting re-routing options to a plurality of in-flight aircraft in accordance with preconfigured pilot preferences. The apparatus comprises a data store module containing data sets against which the pilot preferences are evaluated during flight, including weather, airspace and flight restrictions, ground delay programs, and air traffic information. The apparatus further includes a flight path module containing route and position information for each aircraft. An incursion alert processing module evaluates the flight path, data store, and pilot preferences and generates incursion alerts which are transmitted to each aircraft during flight. Upon receipt of an incursion alert or, alternatively, independent of an incursion alert, the pilot may request re-routing options. Once received and reviewed, the pilot selects the optimum re-routing option, and an associated micro flight plan is uplinked and loaded into the FMS (Flight Management System).

Ground based system and methods for providing multiple flightplan re-plan scenarios to a pilot during flight

A door access control system associates a unique passive identifier with each one of a plurality of doors for which controlled access is desired. Each of the identifiers can be attached to a location adjacent to each respective door. A smart phone with a predetermined scanning application can scan or read a respective identifier of a door for which access is desired. A representation of the door identifier along with an identifier of the smart phone can be transmitted to an access control unit. A data base of the access control unit can be interrogated to determine if that smart phone identifier is authorized to open the designated door. If authorized, then an access command can be transmitted to a local access control module that can release a locking mechanism for the respective door.

Systems and methods are provided for transmitting updated weather data to an in-flight aircraft. The aircraft transmits a request for updates to a ground system that determines if the data has changed since the last transmission and transmits only the changed data. Data may be tailored to pilot preferences or to pilot requests for data representing a predetermined history.

Methods and apparatus are provided for transmitting incursion alerts to a plurality of in-flight aircraft in accordance with preconfigured pilot preferences. The apparatus comprises a data store module containing data sets against which the pilot preferences are evaluated during flight, including weather, airspace and flight restrictions, ground delay programs, and air traffic information. The apparatus further includes a flight path module containing route and position information for each aircraft. An incursion alert processing module evaluates the flight path, data store, and pilot preferences and generates incursion alerts which are transmitted to each aircraft during flight, either directly or via ground based dispatchers or flight operations personnel.

Ground based system and methods for identifying incursions along the flight path of an in-flight aircraft

A technique controls operation of a BRAS device. The technique involves extracting encapsulation information from a communications exchange between a CPE device and an external server device (e.g., a DHCP server). The communications exchange passes through the BRAS device and a DSLAM device. The technique further involves storing the encapsulation information in local memory of the BRAS device, and controlling a flow of a downstream communication passing through the BRAS device and the DSLAM device toward the CPE device based on the encapsulation information stored in the local memory of the BRAS device. Accordingly, the BRAS device is well suited for performing ATM overhead accounting as well as shaping and policing downstream traffic.

Automatically controlling operation of a BRAS device based on encapsulation information

A technique involves exchanging DHCP relay agent information with a DHCP server. In particular, the technique involves receiving a DHCP message en route from a DHCP client to the DHCP server. The DHCP message includes (i) a non-option portion having a client identifier identifying the DHCP client and (ii) an option portion having first relay agent information added to the DHCP message by a first relay agent. The technique further involves modifying the option portion of the DHCP message to simultaneously include both the first relay agent information added by the first relay agent and second relay agent information from a second relay agent. The technique further involves sending the DHCP message with the modified option portion to the DHCP server. Accordingly, the DHCP server is capable of receiving relay agent information from multiple relay agents and assigning an address to the DHCP client based on this input.
