A lens assembly comprises a first lens, a second lens, a third lens, a fourth lens, a sixth lens, a seventh lens and an eighth lens which are arranged sequentially from an object side to an image side along an optical axis. The first lens is a meniscus lens with negative refractive power and comprises a convex surface facing an object side and a concave surface facing an image side. The second lens is with negative refractive power. The third lens is with refractive power. The fourth lens is with positive refractive power. The fifth lens is a lens with negative refractive power, in which an object-side surface of the fifth lens is concave. The photographing lens has an excellent image resolving ability.
