Techniques pertaining to printing a document are disclosed. A printer may include a replaceable marking supply that is either an unrestricted trade supply or a restricted subscription supply. The printer may accommodate either of the unrestricted trade supply or the restricted subscription supply at any given moment.

The peripheral supply component includes a supply item to provide resources on an installed peripheral component, wherein the supply item is a consumable, upgradable, or replacement component on the installed peripheral component. An encoded component is installed with the supply item, wherein the encoded component is employed to generate a message event related to the peripheral component.

In one example, a flexible circuit for a fluid cartridge includes a single flexible substrate, an integrated circuit connected to the single flexible substrate, and an electrical connector pad array arranged in a constant pattern on the single flexible substrate for connection to a host controller. The electrical connector pad array includes first electrical connector pads connected to the integrated circuit and second electrical connector pads for connection to a fluid dispensing die.

In one example, a flexible circuit for a fluid cartridge includes a single flexible substrate, an electronic memory on the substrate, an authentication code stored on the memory, first electrical connector pads on the substrate connected to the memory, and second electrical connector pads on the substrate, not connected to the memory, to connect to a fluid dispensing die.

One example discloses a peripheral supply component. The peripheral supply component includes a supply item () to provide resources on an installed peripheral component (), wherein the supply item () is a consumable, upgradable, or replacement component on the installed peripheral component (). An encoded component () is installed with the supply item (), wherein the encoded component () is employed to generate a message event related to the peripheral component.

In one example of the disclosure, a subscription is received. The subscription is to authorize a computing device to at least one of dispense or consume a subscription quantity of a resource. An authorization quantity of the resource is calculated according to a formula that considers a parameter attributable to the subscription. The authorization quantity is to authorize at least one of a dispensation or consumption of the resource at the device. The authorization quantity is sent to the device.
