Disclosed herein are rubber compositions comprising bio-oil produced by a recombinant cell. Also disclosed are methods of controlling the variability of fatty acid content in bio-oil containing rubber compositions or tires comprising at least one component incorporating the bio-oil containing rubber composition, and a method of providing a bio-oil-containing tire with a reduced carbon footprint.

Oil-containing rubber compositions and related methods

A method of preparing a tire including the steps of providing a cured tire, the tire including a first bead, a second bead, a carcass layer extending from the first bead to the second bead, and an optional innerliner layer disposed interior to the carcass layer; directly or indirectly applying an air barrier composition to at least a portion of the carcass layer or to at least a portion of the optional innerliner layer to thereby form an air barrier layer; and directly or indirectly applying a dampening member to the air barrier layer.

The present disclosure is directed to rubber compositions comprising at least one rubber, at least one reinforcing carbon black filler, and a whey protein component. The whey protein component is in an amount sufficient to provide about 0.1 to about 10 phr whey protein. The present disclosure is also directed to methods of preparing such rubber compositions and to tire components containing the rubber compositions disclosed herein.

A coated rubber composition includes a rubber composition coated with a liquid refresh agent selected from the group consisting of one or more liquid terpenes, limonene, carvone, pinene, pine needle oil, citral, orange oil, C-Caliphatics, C-Ccycloaliphatics, ethyl lactate, dipentene, 1,8-cineole, eucalyptol, citronellol, geraniol, citronellene, terpinen-4-ol, and combinations thereof. A method of application and a coated rubber composition are also disclosed.

Refresh agent

A method of manufacturing a tire, the method comprising the steps of providing a cured tire subassembly, the subassembly including a first bead and a second bead, a cured carcass layer extending from the first bead to the second bead, and an optional cured innerliner disposed on the carcass layer; and applying an air barrier composition to the cured carcass layer, or to the cured innerliner if present, to form an air barrier layer.

An adhesive includes a polymeric latex, a penetrant selected from the group consisting of: terpenes, polylimonene, limonene, carvone, &#x3b1;-pinene, citral, dipentene, 1,8-cineole, eucalyptol, citronellol, geraniol, citronellene, terpinen-4-ol, borneol, camphor, guayule resin, and combinations thereof; and a reinforcing filler. The adhesive has a solids content of 35-65% and a pH of 9 to 12. Articles of manufacture, such as tires and air springs incorporate the adhesive to join rubber interfaces. A method of making the adhesive is also is provided.

Water-based adhesives

A process for retreading a tire, the process comprising the steps of providing a tire casing; providing a cured rubber component having first and second planar surfaces, where the first planar surface includes a tread pattern; providing a cushion gum, wherein the cushion gum is a composition including a functional polymer including at least one functional group, and a crosslinking agent including at least two moieties that will react with the functional group of the functional elastomer; applying the cushion gum to the tire casing; applying the second planar surface of the cured rubber to the cushion gum to form a tire composite; and treating the tire composite to thereby form a retread tire.

Methods for retreading tires

Disclosed herein are a sealant composition for use with tires, a tire having at least one component with at least one surface at least partially coated with the sealant composition, and related methods for applying the sealant composition to tires. The sealant composition comprises biorubber and a softener comprising at least one of plant oil or plant resin and has a non-petroleum content of at least 70% by weight.

The present disclosure is directed to rubber compositions comprising at least one rubber, at least one reinforcing carbon black filler, and a whey protein component. The whey protein component is in an amount sufficient to provide about 0.1 to about 5 phr whey protein. The present disclosure is also directed to methods of preparing such rubber compositions and to tire components containing the rubber compositions disclosed herein.

A method of preparing a tire including the steps of: providing a cured tire, the tire including a first bead, a second bead, a carcass layer extending from the first bead to the second bead, and an optional innerliner layer disposed interior to the carcass layer; applying a pair of reinforcing members to the carcass layer or to the optional innerliner layer, if present; and applying an air barrier composition to the pair of reinforcing members, and to a portion of the carcass layer or to a portion of the optional innerliner layer to thereby form an air barrier layer.

A tire includes a body ply sheet having a rubber core defined by a top surface having a length and a width, a bottom surface having substantially the same length and width, and side surfaces having a common height. The rubber core is further defined by a top rubber layer and a bottom rubber layer. The body ply sheet includes reinforcement cords disposed between the top rubber layer and the bottom rubber layer. The reinforcement cords are spaced 0.1-4.0 mm apart from each other and span the width of the body ply sheet. Bleeder cords are disposed on the body ply sheet and spaced 8-12 cm apart from each other. Conductive cords are also disposed on the body ply and spaced 20-80 cm apart from each other.

A noise damper, noise attenuation device, and tire and noise damper assembly are disclosed. The noise damper, noise attenuation device, and tire and noise damper assembly mitigate sound produced by a moving tire. The noise damper and noise attenuation device fit within a tire cavity and expand in reaction to a stimulus.

A vulcanizable composition for preparing bead filler, the composition comprising a vulcanized rubber; and a vinyl aromatic-containing block copolymer compound, where the vinyl aromatic-containing copolymer is defined by the formula IId-Vo-D-V'-&#x3c9;&#x2003;&#x2003;IIwhere each V is independently a polyvinyl aromatic block, D is a polydiene block, w is a hydrogen atom, a functional group, or a polymeric segment or block, and where d is a polydiene block, and where the overall vinyl content of the block copolymer is greater than 65%.
