A cosmetic composition is provided in the form of a gel exhibiting semi-solid behavior at rest but under slow shear rates fractures ceasing to act as a fluid and becoming a solid. The cosmetic composition achieves this rheology through a combination of an alkyl polyglycoside with a polyether ester.

Rheopectic cosmetic cleanser

A sprayable cosmetic product is provided that includes a clear bottle capable of withstanding at least 10 psig fitted with a spray nozzle, and a clear, single-phase cosmetic composition. The cosmetic composition will contain a hydrocarbon propellant and a concentrate which may contain .alpha.-olefin sulphonate salts, alkyl polyglucosides and betaines as well as mixtures thereof. Upon activation of the spray nozzle, a thick, creamy mousse is expressed. The cosmetic compositions preferably will have a pH ranging from about 3.0 to 6.5. Best aesthetic appeal is achieved with a red dye which has been stabilized with a UV absorbing agent.

Self-foaming cleanser

A sprayable cosmetic product is provided packaged in a clear bottle capable of withstanding at least 5 psig pressure fitted with a spray nozzle. The cosmetic composition contained therein is a clear, single-phase fluid containing a dialkyl ether/hydrocarbon as propellant system and a concentrate which requires a surfactant and optimally may contain a coupling agent. When present, the coupling agent is a propoxylated adduct of mono or polyhydric alcohols. Upon activation of the spray nozzle, a thick, creamy mousse is expressed. These compositions will preferably have a pH ranging from about 3.0 to 6.5.

Stable single-phase self-foaming cleanser

A cosmetic composition is described that includes an aqueous combination of petroleum jelly, aluminum starch octenylsuccinate and a C.sub.12 -C.sub.15 alkyl lactate. The composition provides petroleum jelly in a nongreasy but efficacious form to counteract skin dryness.
