Disclosed is a currency management application to facilitate customized transfer of value between two parties via a digital coin. The digital coin can be personalized and programmed. For example, the digital coin can be personalized with a set of attributes, such as a design, color, shape or theme, and can be programmed with a set of rules, such as where the digital coin can be redeemed and/or who the digital coin can be transferred to. The digital coin is associated with a value, which is determined in terms of a fiat currency or cryptocurrency. This digital coin can be used for peer to peer payments, merchant payments and redeemable/withdrawn through a financial institution, such as a bank account.

Embodiments of systems and methods for client and/or server authentication are provided. In one embodiment, a method includes sending information from a mobile network device to a server, wherein the information comprises a seed that is used by both the mobile network device and the server to compute a series of one time passwords. The method also includes receiving, by the mobile network device, a succession of one time passwords generated by the server throughout a session. And the method further includes comparing the received one time passwords generated by the server throughout the session to corresponding one time passwords generated at the mobile network device. Once confirmed correct, the user enters the date of birth. The service provider then request and/or creates an email associated with the account. The service provider then calls the user enter a payment card number, along with an expiration date and security code, as a funding source for the account. The user further establishes a PIN for future transactions. Once confirmed, the account is active and ready to use.

A system and method enables sellers to define a secret shared with an on-line payment provider when listing an item or service for purchase. Consumers deposit funds into an on-line escrow or holding account before committing to a financial on-line transaction or purchase. Once an item is located, the consumer may contact the seller for additional information. By placing funds in escrow, the seller may be more willing to spend the time and effort to deal with the consumer. The consumer, in turn, receives more information to make a purchasing decision. If the transaction is to be completed, the consumer instructs the payment provider maintaining the escrow account to release the funds to the seller's account. The seller is notified by the payment provider, where the notification includes the secret. This enables the seller to authenticate the confirmation message.
