This disclosure relates generally to communicating video content and other data over networks. An example apparatus includes a transmitter for communicating data via a serial link with a receiver. The transmitter includes an input, an output interface to the serial link, and translation circuitry. The input includes multiple input data lanes and a clock lane, and the input is configured to concurrently receive data on the multiple input data lanes aligned with a clock signal received on the clock lane according to a multi-lane communication protocol. The output interface is a clock-less interface and includes a number of output data lanes less than a number of the multiple input data lanes. The translation circuitry translates the data received according to the multi-lane communication protocol to a serial link communication protocol for transmission on the serial link.

A method and apparatus for automatic audio standard detection in terrestrial broadcast signals is disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of detecting automatic audio standard for terrestrial broadcast includes scanning for each known audio frequency standard of interest in a current band energy spectrum in an incoming broadcast signal using a standard of non standard energy estimation algorithm, such as Goertzel DFT or FFT based algorithm for a predetermined time interval. At each known audio frequency standard of interest, energy is computed using the associated standard or non standard energy estimation algorithm within the predetermined time interval. The computed energy at each known audio frequency standard of interest is then compared to predetermined threshold energy. At each known audio frequency standard of interest, it is determined whether the audio frequency standard of interest is detected based on the outcome of the comparison.

Method and apparatus for automatic audio standard detection in terrestrial broadcast signals employing frequency scanning

A technique to provide a cost effective solution to detect teletext data that can reduce detected error in teletext when the transmission data rate is known. In one example embodiment, this is accomplished by detecting data bits in an unsynchronized digital data stream by finding start of each data bit based on an estimated data bit width and transitions in the unsynchronized digital data stream.

The present invention provides a fast data converter for decoding compressed image data. This is accomplished by using a series of parallel and serial computational steps to decompress the compressed image data and reduce processing cycle time. The high speed decoder receives the input data stream including first and second parameters having initial values and which are representative of properties of the data stream, and a third parameter having a value which is representative of a decoding property of the decoder. The decoder then decodes the initial values of the first, second, and third parameters to determine updated values of the first and second parameters by using a combination of parallel and serial processing steps. The decoder then compares the determined value of the reference parameter with the computed first subtraction value and outputs updated values for the first and second parameters based on the outcome of the comparison by the comparator to reduce decoding cycle time.
