A multi-sensing system () includes multiple sensor units () that include respective sensors (), (ii) are connected to one another in a cascade using serial data lines (), and (iii) are connected to a common clock line () and to a common alignment line (). The sensor units are configured to selectably communicate in accordance with first and second different serial communication protocols using the same serial data lines, clock line and alignment line. A host () is configured to communicate with the sensor units, including reading the sensors and instructing the sensor units to switch between the first and second serial communication protocols.

Multi-sensing using multiple serial protocols over a common interconnection scheme

Systems and methods are described, including a system for electrostimulation. The system includes a patch (), including a plurality of electrodes (), and a mobile device (). A processor () of the mobile device is configured to receive an input from a subject () that indicates that the subject is experiencing a headache, and, in response to the input, while the patch is coupled to the subject, wirelessly communicate a control signal that causes the electrodes to stimulate the subject. Treatment of headaches by electrical stimulation

Embodiments described herein include a controller (). The controller includes at least one interface () that couples the controller to stimulation circuitry (), which includes a pair of electrodes (), and to measuring circuitry, and further includes controller circuitry (). While the electrodes are coupled to skin () of a subject, the controller circuitry, via the interface, drives the stimulation circuitry to (i) pass a plurality of stimulating pulses () between the electrodes, and (ii) pass one or more reference pulses () between the electrodes, the reference pulses being different from each of the stimulating pulses. The controller receives, from the measuring circuitry, an impedance between the electrodes that is measured using the reference pulses. In response to the impedance measured using the reference pulses, but not in response to any impedance measured using the stimulating pulses, the controller circuitry controls the stimulation procedure. Other embodiments are also described.

Impedance monitoring during electrostimulation

A modem for symmetric bi-directional transporting of an Ethernet signal, comprises a port connected to a physical layer module adapted to receive and transmit a single Ethernet signal, a data splitter for splitting the Ethernet signal into the configurable number of downstream data signals, another port comprising the configurable number of DSL ports coupled to the data splitter. Each port is adapted to transmit a separate downstream signal. Each transmitted downstream signal is transmitted via a corresponding telephone line connected to the port. Each port is further adapted to receive a separate upstream signal. Each received upstream signal is received over the corresponding telephone line connected to the DSL port, and a data collection and reorganization unit coupled to the DSL ports and adapted to assemble the upstream signals into the single Ethernet signal for transmission by the physical layer module.

Ethernet transport over a telephone line

A tuner for a wireless receiver is provided, which may include an input interface that is adapted to receive wireless signals, a mixer that is adapted to select a specific frequency from signals received at the input interface, and a controllable switch that is adapted to lead an output from the mixer towards a base-band unit of the receiver and to disconnect the output. The tuner may further include a controller which may be adapted to operate the controllable switch to disconnect the output of the mixer when the controller studies characteristics of the tuner and to reconnect the output of the mixer at other times. The studied characteristics may be associated with parasitic direct current voltages in the tuner, which may be associated with a low noise amplifier of the tuner, or programmable gain amplifier of the tuner or with both amplifiers. The controller may cause a compensation direct current voltage to be generated and applied to the mixer's output based on the ratio between programmed gain and actual/measured gain of the programmable gain amplifier.

A facility transport system for transporting high speed Ethernet data over digital subscriber lines. The system, referred to as 100BaseS, is capable of transmitting 100 Mbps Ethernet over existing copper infrastructure up to distances of approximately 400 meters. The system achieves bit rates from 25 to 100 Mbps in increments of 25 Mbps with each 25 Mbps increment utilizing a separate copper wire pair. Each pair used provides a bidirectional 25 Mbps link with four copper wire pair connections providing 4&#xd7;25 Mbps downstream channels and 4&#xd7;25 Mbps upstream channels. The system utilizes framing circuitry to adapt the 100BaseT input data signal to up to four separate output signals. A DSL Ethernet Port card couples the modem to each twisted pair used. Each DSL Ethernet Port card comprises modem transmitter and receiver circuitry for sending and receiving 100BaseS signals onto twisted pair wires. The system utilizes QAM in combination with frequency division multiplexing (FDM) to separate downstream channels from upstream channels and to separate both the downstream and the upstream channels from POTS and ISDN signals.

Method and modem for fast timing recovery of transmitted data between a master &#x3c7;DSL modem and a slave &#x3c7;DSL modem, over a noisy, high loss, high distortion wiring. Transmitted QAM symbols are received and sampled at the slave modem. The sampled data is split into in-phase and quadrature channel, each of which is filtered by matched filter. The filtered outputs are sampled at twice the symbol rate and the lower and upper band edge components are extracted by modulating each of the sampled sequences of outputs with two discrete time sequences: cos(0.5 &#x3c0; n)=. . . 1,0,&#x2212;1,0 . . . and sin(0.5 &#x3c0; n)=. . . 0,1,0,&#x2212;1 . . . . Each of the resulting products is filtered with a first order low-pass filters and re-sampled again at the symbol rate. The Bit Error Rate is computed, and the slave modem switches from blind timing recovery mode, to data directed timing recovery mode, after the Bit Error Rate has sufficiently decreased.
