A computerized method for voice authentication of a customer in a self-service system is provided. A request for authentication of the customer is received and the customer is enrolled in the self-service system with a text-independent voice print. A passphrase from a plurality of passphrases to transmit to the customer is determined based on comparing each of the plurality of passphrases to a text-dependent or text-independent voice biometric model. The passphrase is transmitted to the customer, and when the customer responds, an audio stream of the passphrase is received. The customer is authenticated by comparing the audio stream of the passphrase against the text-independent voice print. If the customer is authenticated, then storing the audio stream of the passphrase and the topic of the passphrase.

Seamless text-dependent enrollment

A computer-implemented method for enrolling in a database voice prints generated from audio streams may include receiving an audio stream of a communication session and creating a preliminary association between the audio stream and an identity of a customer that has engaged in the communication session based on identification information. The method may further include determining a confidence level of the preliminary association based on authentication information related to the customer and if the confidence level is higher than a threshold, sending a request to compare the audio stream to a database of voice prints of known fraudsters. If the audio stream does not match any known fraudsters, sending a request to generate from the audio stream a current voice print associated with the customer and enrolling the voice print in a customer voice print database.

System and method for voice print generation

An interactive voice response (IVR) system comprises a memory storing recorded segments of speech by individuals, and a processor configured to enroll individuals. The enrollment process may comprise retrieving one or more of said recorded segments of speech by an individual from said memory and using the retrieved segments to create a voice print for the individual. The suitability of the voice print for authenticating the individual in an IVR system is then tested. This may be done using segments of speech of a predetermined maximum duration such as three seconds or some other amount commensurate with the typical duration of a voice response in an IVR system. An individual may be enrolled as suitable for IVR authentication if the voice print passed the suitability test. Individuals may be authenticated using a voice print only if the voice print has passed the suitability test.
