A network storage system for a download intensive environment is provided. The network storage comprises at least a data storage server (DSS) that includes an interface enabling connection of the DSS to a network at a location that enables at least a view of network transactions performed by a plurality of clients; a storage unit; and a system adapted to monitor the network transactions occurring on the network and identification of the network transactions as belonging to a registered client of the DSS, and storing in the storage the transactions with an identification corresponding to the registered client.

A method and system for storage of a data block for time continuum back-in-time data retrieval. The method comprises receiving a data block from a user node; updating an index stored in a memory respective of a time that the data block was received, wherein the time is a past time for retrieval of the data block; generating a hash number respective of contents of the data block; updating the index with the generated hash number; checking for existence of the generated hash number in a database; upon determination that the generated hash number does not exist in the database saving the data block in a storage device; increasing monotonously a transaction number respective of the generated hash number; and updating the index with the transaction number.

Storage system and methods for time continuum data retrieval

A method and apparatus for transferring data between a main volatile memory and a backup memory in a redundant system comprised of a main sub-system and a mirror sub-system is provided. For the purpose of preserving uninterruptible power supply energy, data is continuously transferred to back-up memory which may be a corresponding volatile memory of the mirror sub-system, or a non-volatile memory of the main sub-system. The method further includes the steps of detecting a loss of system power, transferring data from volatile memory to non-volatile memory, and turning off the power supply of the non-volatile memory module. The method is capable of detecting the status of the uninterruptible power supply of the mirror system and if that system is operative then only data not previously backed up is transferred to main non-volatile memory; otherwise, if a power failure is detected in both sub-systems all data in volatile memory, not previously written to non-volatile memory is transferred to non-volatile memory.
