An optical physiological sensor configured to be secured to a user's nose includes a first prong configured to be positioned proximate an outside portion of the nose, a second prong configured to be positioned proximate an inside portion of the user's nose, a winged portion coupled to the first prong and configured to contact tissue of the user, one or more emitters configured to emit light of one or more wavelengths into the tissue, and one or more detectors configured to detect at least a portion of the light emitted from the one or more emitters after attenuation through at least a portion of the tissue. In some configurations, the winged portion comprises a width that is greater than a width of the second prong. In some configurations, at least a portion of the winged portion is curved toward the second prong.

A sensor system for monitoring patients is provided. The sensor system includes a wireless charging dock, one or more patient sensors, and a processing module. The patient sensor is configured to collect patient physiological data and send the data to the processing module. The processing module wirelessly transmits the patient physiological data to a patient monitor system. The wireless charging dock is wirelessly and removably coupled to the processing module to wirelessly provide power for the processing module. The wireless charging dock is magnetically coupled to the processing module.

One or more attached components may have information elements designed to designate what quality control mechanisms a patient monitor should look to find on that or another component or designate other components with which the one component may properly work. In a further embodiment, such information elements may also include data indicating the appropriate life of the component.

A system for collecting physiological data from a patient is disclosed. The system includes a reusable module and a disposable module. The disposable module collects and transmits physiological data to the reusable module, which in turn transmits the physiological data to a patient monitoring system. The reusable module accesses operation data from the disposable module to validate the disposable sensor assembly. Optionally, the operation data includes sensor life data that may be used to determine life expectancy of disposable module. The disposable sensor assembly may store the physiological data for a predetermined length of time when there is no wireless communication established for the reusable module.

A wearable device configured to monitor physiological parameters of a wearer can include: a physiological parameter measurement sensor configured to monitor a plurality of physiological parameters; a hardware processor; a display in communication with the processor; and a band configured to secure the physiological parameter measurement sensor on a wrist of the wearer. In some implementations, the hardware processor is configured to: obtain a first plurality of signals from the physiological parameter measurement sensor when the band is secured on the wrist at a first tightness; determine a signal quality responsive to the first plurality of signals; and output an indication on the display to adjust tightness of the band with respect to the wrist from the first tightness to a second tightness based on the determined signal quality.

A noninvasive blood pressure monitor. The noninvasive blood pressure monitor may include an inflatable cuff, a pressure transducer, one or more air pumps, and a processor. The processor may control the air pump(s) so as to initiate inflation of the cuff. The processor may also identify an oscillometric signal in an output of the pressure transducer, and may determine an envelope of the oscillometric signal. The processor may also determine one or more characteristics of the envelope of the oscillometric signal, and may control the air pump(s) so as to stop inflation of the cuff based on the one or more characteristics of the envelope of the oscillometric signal.

Patient monitoring systems, devices, and methods

A non-invasive physiological sensor system implemented as a smart watch or other wearable device includes an emitter for emitting light and a detector for collecting light after the light interacts with a tissue of a wearer. The system can measure light intensity at one or more radial distances to estimate attenuation parameter values that can be used to correct physiological parameter bias across subjects. In addition or alternatively, the system can determine whether a detector is positioned sufficiently proximate to an obstructing tissue (for example, an artery or vein) so as to cause inaccurate measurements by the detector.
