A tool for use in a wellbore includes an annular body having an inner flow passage extending axially therethrough, at least one gripping member positioned around an outer perimeter of a retainer section of the annular body, and a gate member positioned in the inner flow passage. When the gate member is in a closed configuration, an upstream portion of the inner flow passage is sealed from a downstream portion of the inner flow passage by the gate member. When the gate member is in an open configuration, the upstream portion of the inner flow passage is fluidly connected to the downstream portion of the inner flow passage. At least one static mixing blade extends through the downstream portion of the inner flow passage to mix fluid when it flows through the open gate member.

Method and apparatus for downhole in-situ mixing using dual, concentric flow channels

A pipe section is disclosed. The pipe section includes a tubular body with a wall defining an interior flow path extending axially through the tubular body and a turbine assembly assembled to a first portion of the wall. The turbine assembly includes a link rod extending through the wall, from an interior of the tubular body to an exterior of the tubular body, an inner turbine mounted on the link rod in the interior of the tubular body, wherein the inner turbine is rotatable about the link rod, and an outer impeller mounted on the link rod at the exterior of the tubular body, wherein the outer impeller is rotatable about the link rod. The pipe section further includes a protective shield disposed around the outer impeller.

A rig site may include a rotary table within a rig floor above a wellbore. A fabric sheet rolled into two symmetrical rolls is disposed on the rig floor. A pre-cut center hole of the fabric sheet is coaxial with the rotary table. A casing string, to be lowered in the wellbore, includes a first casing joint at a bottom of the casing string is a modified float joint. The pre-cut center hole of the fabric sheet is attached to a sleeve of the modified float joint. Union units are provided above the rotary table. The union units close the fabric sheet around the casing string to form a fabric-nested casing string within the wellbore. A cement slurry is pumped down the casing string and into a space between the fabric sheet and the casing string to cement the fabric-nested casing string to the wellbore.

A method includes introducing a drill string including a bottom hole assembly into a wellbore, wherein the bottom hole assembly includes a mounted 3D printing sub-assembly. A wellbore is drilled with the bottom hole assembly, and at least a portion of a casing is printed with the 3D printing sub-assembly while drilling the wellbore. A related system includes a drill string having a length of drill pipe and a bottom hole assembly disposed at a distal end of the length of drill pipe. A 3D printing sub-assembly is mounted on the bottom hole assembly, wherein the printing sub-assembly includes a printer housing and a 3D printing head mounted at the printer housing. A control guides the 3D printing head to print at least a portion of a casing at a location radially away from the central longitudinal axis of the drill string.

A downhole autonomous jet cutting tool includes a main body with a generally cylindrical configuration. The main body includes a locking unit actuable to engage the tool to an inner surface of the pipe, a hydraulic motor with a rotor and a stator, and a rotatable jet cutting nozzle assembly operable to emit a stream of fluid to cut the pipe. The tool also includes a sensor module to detect interactions between the pipe and walls of the wellbore and a control unit in electronic communication with the sensor module and the locking unit. The control unit can identify, based on output of the sensor module, a location where interaction between the pipe and the walls of the wellbore limits downhole movement of the pipe, actuate the locking unit to engage the tool in the inner surface of the pipe, and initiate the stream of fluid from the nozzle assembly.

Cutting pipes in wellbores using downhole autonomous jet cutting tools

A downhole autonomous cutting tool and methods are described. The downhole autonomous cutting tool including: a body comprising a hydraulic motor, the body having a generally cylindrical configuration such that the body limits a downhole flow of fluids past the autonomous cutting tool between the autonomous cutting tool and the pipe when the tool is deployed in the pipe; a locking unit attached to the body, the locking unit actuable to engage inner surfaces of the pipe in the wellbore; a sensor module operable to detect interactions between the pipe and walls of the wellbore; an actuation unit attached to the body and rotatable by the hydraulic motor, the actuation unit operable to move a plurality of cutting elements between a running position and a cutting position; and a control unit in electronic communication with the sensor module, the locking unit, and the actuation unit.
