The pressure relieving device is intended to provide users with a stress relieving support surface that is customizable. To that end, the device includes a sleeve with one or more compartments that may be individually filled and refilled with a deformable media. The deformable media further includes a mixture of both non-rigid deformable and rigid non-deformable particles that enable the device to conform to any shape when acted upon by a pressure and recover back when pressure is removed. The device may act as a footwear component for use as a shoe insole insert which may be customized by the user to relieve pain in the areas of foot where most required. Accordingly, the footwear component adapts to the user's foot pattern while standing or moving. Furthermore, the device is durable, washable and reusable, and may be used with open shoes, closed shoes or even without any shoes.

Customizable pressure relieving device

A thermoplastic olefin (TPO) composition comprises (1) a major amount by weight of (a) a substantially linear homopolymer or copolymer of a C&#x2013;C&#x3b1;-olefin in major proportion to (b) a long chain branched a linear homopolymer or copolymer of a C&#x2013;C&#x3b1;-olefin, (2) a minor amount by weight of a cross linkable elastomer, and (3) at least one thermally decomposing free radical generating agent present in an amount sufficient to promote an increase in melt strength of the composition over that of the melt strength of the linear homopolymer or copolymer of a C&#x2013;C&#x3b1;-olefin alone and insufficient to substantially degrade the &#x3b1;-olefinic polymers. The TPO composition is prepared by melt blending the components at a temperature sufficient to melt said homopolymers or copolymers of a C&#x2013;C&#x3b1;-olefin and thermally decompose said agent. Articles are thermoformed from the thermoplastic olefin.

Thermoplastic olefin compositions and articles

A device to evaluate the thermoformability of plastics using pressure, vacuum or both is provided. The device includes at least one set of adjustable radiant heater panels laid parallel to the plastic material, a non-contact temperature measuring device, a carriage to move the plastic heated to preset temperature to forming, where a forming die attached to an end of mechanical device moves downwards or upwards at an adjustable speed forcing the heated plastic material to conform to the outer shape of the die while providing the actual force required to push the hot plastic as function of time or forming distance. A processor under the control of software measures the thermoforming characteristics of the sample.

Apparatus to determine ability of plastic material to be shaped by thermoforming process

A bale processor for cutting or dicing a bale or slab of unvulcanized rubber produces small cubes or blocks of a predetermined size and uniform shape for continuous feeding at a predetermined rate into a mixing machine or blender. A bale or slab of feedstock rubber is advanced incrementally along a slider platform and a segment is sliced from the leading end of the bale. After separation, the segment falls onto a receiving panel from which it is transferred by a vacuum pick-up head to a vacuum hold-down table. Multiple slices are then formed through the segment along the X-axis by circular cutting blades of an X-axis cutter head, thereby forming elongated segment strips. Next, multiple slices are formed through the segment strips in the Y-direction by a Y-axis cutter head which includes circular cutter blades that are extendable and retractable along the Y-axis. The bulk slab or bale is thus reduced to multiple cubes of predetermined length, height and width dimensions as established by the dimension of the initial segment slice and by the spacing of the circular cutting blades of the X-cutter head and the Y-cutter head, respectively.

An electrical device, particularly a self-regulating strip heater, has improved thermal efficiency, good mechanical properties, and acceptable resistance to water penetration when an outer insulating layer is applied in a way that it penetrates the interstices of a braid surrounding the heater. Appropriate penetration may be achieved by pressure-extruding the outer jacket over the braid.

Method of making an electrical device comprising a conductive polymer

Conductive polymer compositions which exhibit PTC behavior comprising a first polymeric component which may be crystalline, a second component, and a particulate conductive filler. The second component may comprise either a polymer which exhibits side chain crystallization or a crystalline material which has a sharp melting point and has poor physical properties at room temperature and/or exhibits no melt strength at elevated temperatures. The compositions are particularly useful in electrical devices which exhibit 'square' resistance vs. temperature characteristics.

Electrical devices comprising conductive polymers

A polymer thick film ink which exhibits PTC behavior comprising an organic polymer which is crystalline, an active solvent suitable for dissolving the polymer, and carbon black which has a pH of less than 4.0. The ink is particularly useful in producing electrical devices such as heaters and circuit protection devices.
