In one aspect, a wireless device receives a scheduling grant and a grant confirmation signal indicating that a network node has performed a CCA on a carrier and is releasing the carrier for the wireless device. An uplink message is transmitted on the carrier without performing a CCA on the carrier. In another aspect, a wireless device is connected to a first cell and a second cell configured on a carrier requiring an LBT protocol. The wireless device receives configuration messages indicating that downlink transmissions on the second cell are to be scheduled. This can mean self-scheduling for downlink on the second cell and cross-carrier scheduling for uplink on the first cell. The wireless device receives a scheduling grant in the first cell and performs a CCA in the second cell. The wireless device then transmits an uplink message responsive to success of the CCA.

Scheduling in license assisted access

A first wireless communications device, e.g., a first UE, shares a second portion, e.g., a remaining unused portion, of its sidelink (SL) channel occupancy time (COT), corresponding to unlicensed spectrum, with a second wireless communications device. The first wireless communications device communicates SL COT sharing information to the second wireless communications device via sidelink control information (SCI) communicated over physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH) resources during a first portion of its SL COT. In some embodiments, the SL COT sharing information includes one or more of: i) a channel access priority class value, ii) a COT-sharing indicator value, or iii) a COT duration field value. The SL COT sharing information allows the second wireless communications device to identify the second portion of the COT, which the second wireless communications device is allowed to use for reverse transmission to the first wireless communications.

Methods and apparatus for supporting sidelink channel sharing in unlicensed spectrum

Methods and apparatus for supporting use of multiple bandwidth parts, some of which are in a dormant state from the perspective of a User Equipment device (UE) are described. In various embodiments a multi-cell grant is supported in which a UE can be, and sometimes is, granted resources corresponding of an active bandwidth part (BWP) corresponding to a cell which is active from the UE's perspective and a BWP of a dormant cell with the multi-cell grant being transmitted to the UE on the active BWP of the active cell. Various features relate to timing determination operations used to determine downlink and/or uplink timing to be used for bandwidth portions corresponding to a dormant cell. In some embodiments a UE PRACH signal transmission on a bandwidth part of a dormant cell can be triggered by a control signal sent on a bandwidth part of an active cell.

Carrier aggregation enhancements for new radio (NR)

Apparatus and methods for increasing throughput in wireless systems and networks. In one embodiment, the apparatus and methods provide enhanced performance to 5G millimeter-wave user devices via expanded use of spatial multiplexing layers in various uplink (UL) operating modes, including transform precode and non-transform precode modes. In one implementation, the methods and apparatus described herein can be utilized with respect to a 3GPP 5G NR UE scheduled dynamically in UL transmission. In another implementation, the methods and apparatus described herein can be utilized with respect to the UE scheduled with a Configured Grant (CG) UL transmission.

Apparatus and methods for uplink MIMO enhancement in wireless systems

Various embodiments comprise systems, methods, architectures, mechanisms and apparatus configured to enable wireless stations to use their shared spectrum grants proximate a priority/incumbent user of the shared spectrum by generating a propagation model of the priority/incumbent user, determining a potential interference therewith by each of at least one group of similarly located wireless stations proximate the priority user, determining a modification to a spectrum grant for each wireless station group that would avoid interference with the priority/incumbent user by the respective wireless stations of the group, and updating the spectrum grants of each wireless station in a wireless station group using the determined spectrum grant modification associated with the wireless station group.

System and method for highly dynamic spectrum sharing

Communication management hardware controls operation of multiple wireless stations in a network environment. For example, the communication management hardware initially assigns wireless bandwidth for use by multiple wireless stations in a wireless network environment to communicate amongst each other. The communication management hardware monitors use of the wireless bandwidth. In response to detecting use of the wireless bandwidth by an incumbent entity having higher priority rights than the multiple wireless stations, the communication management hardware operates in a shared time-division mode in which both the multiple wireless stations and the incumbent entity share use of the wireless bandwidth in a control period according to a duty cycle in which the wireless stations are provided full use of the wireless bandwidth during a first portion of the control period and the wireless stations are provided reduced use of the wireless channels for a second portion of the control period.

Channel management and shared use of wireless spectrum

According to one configuration, a system includes a first wireless station in communication with a second wireless station. Signal processor hardware receives, from a first phase noise predictor (model), a first common phase error signal to compensate for: i) first phase noise associated with a first wireless station, and ii) second phase noise associated with a second wireless station. The signal processor hardware implements a predictive feedback compensation loop (such as including a second phase noise predictor) to produce a second (i.e., corrected) common phase error signal from the received common phase error signal. The signal processor hardware outputs the corrected common phase error signal to adjust phases of sub-carrier frequencies used to communicate data from the first wireless station to the second wireless station.

Phase noise compensation in a wireless system

A communication management resource implements an iterative process to derive settings for digital precoder W, analog precoder A, and decode function D with a bandwidth-limited fronthaul link between the application of digital precoder W and the application of analog precoder A. The iterative process includes: for a first instance of digital precoder W and decode function D, optimize an instance of the analog precoder A; and based on the optimized instance of the analog precoder A, optimize a second instance of the digital precoder W and the decode function D. In one implementation, for each iteration of multiple iterations, the communication management resource: i) optimizes an instance of the analog precoder A based on an instance of the digital precoder W and the decode function D, and ii) optimizes an instance of the digital precoder W and the decode function D based on the instance of the analog precoder A.

Decode signal compensation in a wireless system

A first wireless communications device including a transmitter, such as a base station or UE, identifies a first traffic flow, e.g., a TCP packet flow, for which end to end packet retransmission is supported. The first wireless communications device transmits an explicit indication to a second wireless communications device to skip Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) feedback for data, corresponding to the first traffic flow, said data being transmitted to the second wireless communications device. The explicit indication to skip HARQ feedback for data is, e.g., one of: a HARQ Off Indicator in a Downlink Control Information (DCI) Scheduling message, a Semi-Persistent Scheduling HARQ Off Indicator, or a AUL HARQ Off Indicator. HARQ suppression is applied for the first traffic flow at a radio link layer and/or MAC layer.

Disabling hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) acknowledgments for packets for which acknowledgements are supported at network or higher layer

A wireless station is allocated use of a time slot in a given direction, uplink or downlink, on a given channel. The wireless station monitors for presence of wireless energy during a portion of the time slot. Based on a detected level of the wireless energy in the time slot, the wireless station controls transmission of wireless communications in a direction opposite to the configured direction in a remaining part of the time slot.

Use of allocated wireless channels in a wireless network

Apparatus and methods for improving throughput and reliability in a wireless network. In one embodiment, the apparatus and methods provide mechanisms for wireless user device buffer management that mitigate buffer overflow within the device due to overscheduling, such as from different networks with which the device is connected simultaneously. In one variant, a 3GPP-based signaling architecture from wireless device to the multiple networks is provided to enable user device-controlled management buffer overflow. In another variant, potentially buffer-demanding (e.g., HARQ) process management and prioritization rules are defined to avoid buffer overflow. In other variant, buffer size computation is provided considering the number of networks to which the wireless user device can connect.

Apparatus and methods for user device buffer management in wireless networks

Methods and apparatus for managing system information message transmission in a distribution network (e.g., a wireless network such as one compliant with 3GPP 5G NR-U). In one embodiment, transmission of multiple SI (System Information) messages with overlapping SI-windows is enabled but with no soft-combining support. In another embodiment, transmission of multiple SI-messages with overlapping SI-windows is enabled with soft-combining support. In yet another embodiment, aperiodic OSI transmission is enabled. Moreover, the present disclosure provides mechanisms for notifying UE of an SI change.

Methods and apparatus for system information management in a wireless system

A master node (MN) communicating with a UE using resources of a first band of unlicensed spectrum sends an addition request to a selected secondary node, to request resources for supporting the UE in a second band of unlicensed spectrum. The addition request includes timing information including one or more of: i) information indicating a start time for the MN time division duplexing (TDD) timing structure with respect to the UE, or ii) information indicating a reference clock being used by the MN. The secondary node uses the received timing information from the MN to perform timing alignment at the secondary node. The adjusted timing alignment of the secondary node allows the UE to achieve slot-boundary and/or symbol boundary alignment with regard to MN communications using the first unlicensed spectrum and SN communications using the second unlicensed spectrum. Due to the achieved synchronization, an in-device coexistence (IDC) problem is avoided.

Methods and apparatus relating to communicating and/or using timing information to facilitate carrier aggregation and/or dual connectivity

A method in a wireless device () comprises obtaining () information related to a signal transmission configuration for autonomous uplink transmission by the wireless device, the information comprising: a set of pre-allocated resources for use by the wireless device in performing autonomous uplink transmission on at least one secondary cell established between the wireless device and a network node (); and a periodicity associated with the set of pre-allocated resources. The method comprises performing () autonomous uplink transmission according to the obtained information related to the signal transmission configuration.

Collision avoidance adaptation for autonomous transmission systems

Embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a scheduling node for scheduling an uplink transmission from a wireless device to the scheduling node, which wireless device is connected to a Primary Cell, Pcell, of the scheduling node in a licensed or unlicensed frequency band, and wherein the wireless device is also connected to at least one Secondary Cell, SCell, in an unlicensed frequency band. The scheduling node determines at least one Listen Before Talk, LBT, parameter associated with an LBT procedure and informs the wireless device about the determined at least one LBT parameter in a scheduling grant of the uplink transmission.
