A multifunctional accessory channel device is disclosed. The device comprises a tube, a proximal adapter for attachment of the tube to a control section of an endoscope, and a distal adapter for attachment of the tube at or near a distal tip of an endoscope. The tube has a slit that is reversibly locally openable along the length and the depth of the slit by translation of a portion of an accessory through and along the slit but is otherwise fully closed. The tube has a distal end shaped as a notch. The device allows for removal of large specimens from the body of a patient by use of an endoscope without need for removing the endoscope from its position within the body. The device also serves as a secondary channel, allowing for use of other endoscopic instruments or for accessory suction.

Endoscopic multifunctional accessory channel device

A device for collecting a biological sample in a patient includes a collection portion having a first axial end portion and a second axial end portion. The second axial end portion has a collapsed position and an expanded position. The second axial end portion moves in an axial direction relative to the first axial end portion when the second axial end portion moves between the collapsed position and the expanded position. The second axial end portion extends axially into the first axial end portion and has a concave shape when in the collapsed position. The second axial end portion is convex when in the expanded position.

Device for collecting a biological sample

An endoscopic tissue resection device configured to be attached at a distal tip of an endoscope is disclosed. The device comprises a cap, a snare sheath, a snare, and a spring wire. The snare comprises a collapsible snare wire configured to be retracted from the cavity of the cap into the snare sheath, the collapsible snare wire reversibly collapsing upon retraction, and to be advanced from the snare sheath into the cavity of the cap, the collapsible snare wire reversibly expanding upon advancement. The spring wire is reversibly deflectable from a resting state to a deflected state. In the resting state the spring wire orients and stabilizes an apex of the collapsible snare wire within the cap such that two opposing wire portions of the collapsible snare wire are positioned in apposition to a distal opening of the cap.

Endoscopic tissue resection device

A device for collecting a biological sample in a subject, the device including an inflatable portion attached to a tubular member, and designed to expand from within the tubular member when inflated and to retract within the tubular member, a surface on the inflatable portion provided with varied thickness to facilitate movement of the inflatable portion between an expanded state and a retracted state, and a plurality of projections on the surface to allow collection of the biological sample when the inflatable portion is in the expanded state.

Device for biological cell collection and method of use

The disclosure provides methods for identifying genomic loci (e.g., vimentin and/or SqBE18) that are differentially methylated in metaplasias (e.g., Barrett's esophagus) and/or neoplastic cancers (e.g., esophageal cancers). This application describes methods and compositions for detecting and treating vimentin-associated neoplasia. Differential methylation of the vimentin nucleotide sequences has been observed in vimentin-associated neoplasia such as neoplasia of the upper or lower gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, and/or bladder. Nucleic acid sequences for regions of vimentin that are found to be differentially methylated are described. The present disclosure further describes bisulfite-converted vimentin template DNA sequences. Oligonucleotide primer sequences for use in assays (e.g., methylation-sensitive PCR assays or HpaII assays) designed to detect the methylation status of the vimentin gene are also described.
