A device () is provided to aid in needle insertion of an injector, such as a safety pen needle (). The device () includes a housing () having a mounting surface () configured to contact a skin surface (), and a hole () configured to receive the injector (), wherein the hole () is configured allow the injector () to bottom out on the hole () to aid in the needle insertion. An LED () may also be provided to illuminate the housing () for use in low light conditions.

Device for facilitating needle injection

A syringe assembly () includes a syringe barrel () having a proximal end and a distal end, a needle () coupled to the distal end of the syringe barrel, a body () coupled to the syringe barrel, and movable shield () for moving in an axial direction between a first position where the needle is exposed and a second position covering at least a portion of the needle. The body () is configured for enabling the shield () to move to the second position and retain the shield in the second position. The shield () can slide axially, and rotate relative to the body or slide transversely relative to the body when the shield is in the second position.

Syringe assembly

A syringe and needle hub for a syringe has distal patient-facing side having a surface for contact with the subject's skin during injection. The contact surface is formed by a distal face of a post supporting a cannula and an outer collar surrounding the post. The axial distance between the distal face of the post and the distal face of the collar provided a contact surface with a radius of curvature to control the desired injection. The syringe barrel can have finger flanges extending outwardly where the flanges have a tactile member such as a dimple projecting from a proximal face of the flange and recess in a distal face of the flange.

A pen needle () includes a hub () supporting a needle (), an inner shield () enclosing the distal end of the needle, and an outer cover (). The outer surface of the hub can include ribs () that cooperate with ribs () on the inner surface of the outer cover to assist in attaching the pen needle to a delivery device while preventing over torqueing or over tightening. In one embodiment, the inner shield () has a dimension to attach to the distal end of the hub () after use to enclose the proximal, non-patent end of the needle. In another embodiment, the outer cover () includes a closure member that can be removed during use and re-attached after use to cover the proximal end of the needle.

Pen needle

A universal add-on for an injection pen is provided. A static portion () has opposing gripping members to grip a body () of the injection pen. A moving portion () has opposing gripping members to grip an actuator () of the injection pen. Displacement measurement devices () measure relative linear and rotational movement of the actuator relative to the injection pen body (). Doses are determined and recorded based on relative movement of the static portion () and moving portion (), and the dose data is transmitted wirelessly to a mobile device. The device is easily installed on injection pens by pressing opposing buttons to relieve gripping pressure imparted by the gripping members.

Universal connection device for pen injectors

A syringe assembly () includes a syringe barrel () having a proximal end and a distal end, a needle-bearing hub () coupled to the distal end of the syringe barrel (). An adapter () is configured for connecting to a container containing a substance, such as a medication, drug, or pharmaceutical. The adapter has a body () with a cavity (), a proximal end, and a distal end. A closure member () is coupled to the proximal end of the body. The closure member has a thickness where a needle of a syringe can pierce the closure member to access the cavity of the body. A cannula () extends from the distal end of the body for accessing the container.

A hard-packaged safety needle device comprises a needle hub comprising a distal portion and a proximal portion, a needle cannula extending from the distal portion of the needle hub, and a hard needle enclosure comprising a needle cover, an adapter and a cap. The needle cover is configured to house the needle cannula, and the adapter has a tapered aperture configured to create an interference fit and a sterility barrier with the tapered outer surface of the needle cover. The caps includes a distal opening defining a first cavity, the cap being configured to interdigitate with the adapter by the first cavity of the cap receiving a proximal portion of the adapter.

Hard-packaged safety needle device

A safety needle device for connection to a medical connector, including threaded connections. The safety needle comprises a collar configured to interdigitate with a conventional needle hub, the collar having attachment points for a hinged cap, the hinged cap being in a two-piece configuration. In further embodiments, the safety needle device comprises a removable hard needle cover configured to cover needle cannula and a distal portion of a needle hub. The hard needle enclosure further comprises a cap configured to interdigitate with the needle cover and cover a proximal portion of the needle hub. The cap and at least a portion of the needle cover are covered by a removable sleeve which holds the cap and the needle cover together. Even further embodiments comprise a needle hub, a needle cover, an adapter and a cap, the adapter configured to attach to a conventional needle cap.

Sensors are disclosed that detect whether a cannula is properly inserted to its full depth in a subject's skin. The sensors may be used with a blood glucose monitor, or with a continuous insulin infusion pump, infusion set, or other system involving intermittent or continuous testing and/or drug delivery.

Cannula insertion detection

An apparatus for entirely removing a medical sharp from a holder to which it is connected, including a body (), a heating unit () disposed in the body, a receiving unit () fixedly disposed in the body and configured to receive the holder, and a collet () movably disposed within the body and configured to receive the medical sharp. The apparatus also includes a first biasing member () disposed within the body, and a user interface () coupled to the collet and configured to displace the collet away from the receiving unit, actuate the first biasing member to increase a bias on the collet toward the receiving unit, and actuate the heating unit.

The medical event image capture app provides any one or more of confirmation of correct or compatible product(s), dose confirmation, and detection of defective product or medication or misuse. The medical event image capture app provides auto-recording of medical event data into patients' electronic records, and assists with healthcare administration including billing, medical products inventory management and reordering, care plan compliance, and clinical effectiveness.

Systems, apparatuses and methods for capturing images of medical condition management events and related equipment with smartphone and related app that processes images to reduce medical errors

A container () for storing pen needles () comprises a plurality of cavities (), each cavity () having a closed end () and an open end (), and a plurality of rings (), each ring () including a plurality of arms () that is configured to retain the pen needle () in a first position and in a second position, wherein the open end () is flared outwardly, and the plurality of arms () are flared outwardly when the pen needle () is in the first position.

Pen needle storage

Systems and methods encourage users to rotate injection sites and avoid lipodystrophy. Sleeves and/or lost-tooth gear dials and/or microswitches in or on injection pens or their caps, on vials, and on other portable devices manually adjust an indicator before or after an injection to show a current or next injection site in accordance with a site rotation plan. Injected medicine packaging and related printed indicia encourage site rotation. Optical devices employing optical mouse or projection technology help locate and/or distribute injection sites within a body area. A mobile phone app tracks injections and locations to select next injection site, and can use imaging to locate a target injection site and optionally diagnose lipodystrophic conditions and record them. Tactile and print media educational tools are presented to help users palpate and identify lipos in body areas having injection sites.

Systems, apparatuses and methods to encourage injection site rotation and prevent lipodystrophy from repeated injections to a body area

Insulin injection syringes are disclosed that include two types of components, namely, durable components that that do not contact the fluid path and can be reused, and disposable or single-use components that contact the fluid path and are not reused. The durable components do not contact the fluid path so that sterility is not affected. Two different syringe components include a reusable outer sleeve containing scale markings for the syringe and a reusable syringe plunger are provided as durable components in embodiments of the present invention. Syringes manufactured according to the present invention can employ one or both of these durable components. Methods for making, using and packaging such syringes are also disclosed.
