An apparatus for viewing of a three dimensional image of a scene, including a monocular device worn by a viewer for displaying a first two-dimensional image to one eye of the viewer, The monocular device being arranged so it can be worn on either eye of the viewer. A second display for displaying a second two-dimensional image of the scene in a stereo image pair which is viewed by the other eye of the viewer. A way of selecting the first two-dimensional image with either a left or right perspective relative to the second two-dimensional image dependent upon which eye the viewer uses with the monocular device.

Three channel delivery of stereo images

A print media moving apparatus includes a vacuum assembly positioned immediately upstream relative to a roller. The vacuum assembly has an arcuate surface including three sections with the second section located between the first and third sections. The arcuate surface includes an extremum in the second section. The roller, having a diameter and rotational axis, includes three sections with the second section located between the first and third section as viewed along the rotational axis. The diameter of the roller in the first and third sections is greater than in the second section. The three sections of the vacuum assembly correspond to the three sections of the roller such that the contour of the arcuate surface causes the print media, after leaving the vacuum assembly, to contact the first and third sections of the roller prior to contacting the second section of the roller.

Apparatus for reducing wrinkles in moving web

A print media moving apparatus includes a vacuum assembly positioned immediately upstream relative to a roller. The vacuum assembly has a multiple vacuum manifolds forming an arcuate surface including three sections with the second section located between the first and third sections. The arcuate surface includes an extremum in the second section. The roller, having a diameter and rotational axis, includes three sections with the second section located between the first and third section as viewed along the rotational axis. The diameter of the roller in the first and third sections is greater than in the second section. The three sections of the vacuum assembly correspond to the three sections of the roller such that the contour of the arcuate surface causes the print media, after leaving the vacuum assembly, to contact the first and third sections of the roller prior to contacting the second section of the roller.

A method for moving print media includes providing a vacuum assembly having an arcuate profile to deflect the print media such that the print media has a non-linear profile in a direction perpendicular to a media travel path. A roller, having an axis of rotation and a diameter, and including three sections with the second section located between the first and third section as viewed along the rotational axis is provided. The diameter of the roller in the first and third sections is greater than in the second section. The roller is used to deflect the web of print media in a direction opposite to that of the deflection of the web of print media by the vacuum assembly, thereby spreading the web of print media in a cross-track direction to reduce the formation of wrinkles in the web of print media as it travels over the roller.

A method for viewing of a three dimensional image of a scene with a monocular device on one eye for viewing a first two-dimensional image of the scene and providing a second display for viewing a second two-dimensional image of the scene in a stereo image pair with the other eye. Using a camera to provide an image of the second display to determine the position of the second display relative to the first display. Adjusting the alignment of the first two-dimensional image in correspondence to the determined position of the second display relative to the first display, whereby the viewer perceives a three dimensional image of the scene and one or more other viewers that are not wearing monocular devices can view the second display with both eyes so that they can perceive a two-dimensional image of the scene.

Generating a tag layout from a set of tags and an ordering of the set of tags, wherein each tag includes a text label and a size for the text label, is disclosed. The system includes a processor accessible memory for receiving an ordered set of tags, each tag including a text label and a size for the text label, and at least one closed shape corresponding to a space for the tag layout. The system further includes a processor for generating the tag layout by computing a scale factor for either the closed shape or the size of the text labels in the set of tags such that all the tags in the set of tags fit within the closed shape, and the processor stores the generated tag layout in the memory.

A digital camera system including a first video capture unit for capturing a first digital video sequence of a scene and a second video capture unit that simultaneously captures a second digital video sequence that includes the photographer. A data processor automatically analyzes first digital video sequence to determine a low-interest spatial image region. A facial video sequence including the photographer's face is extracted from the second digital video sequence, and inserted into the low-interest spatial image region in the first digital video sequence to form the composite video sequence.

The identification of known normal structures within an image is preferably accomplished using an appearance model. Specifically, an active appearance model, which encapsulates a complete model of the shape and global texture variations of an object from a collection of samples, is utilized to define normal structures within an image by restricting training samples supplied to the active appearance model during a training phase to those that do not contain abnormal structures. Accordingly, the trained appearance model represents only normal variations in the object of interest. When another image with abnormalities is presented to the system, the appearance model cannot synthesize the abnormal structures which show up as errors in a residual image. Accordingly, the errors in the residual image represent potential abnormalities.

An apparatus for viewing of an image of a scene, including a monocular device worn by a viewer which includes a first display for displaying a first two-dimensional image of the scene with a first perspective to one eye of the viewer. a second display for displaying a second two-dimensional image of the scene with a second perspective to the other eye of the viewer, wherein the first perspective of the scene is different from the second perspective of the scene so that the viewer perceives a three dimensional image of the scene, while another viewer of the second display, that is not wearing a monocular device, views the two-dimensional image of the scene.

Generating a tag layout from a set of tags and an ordering of the set of tags, wherein each tag includes a text label and a size for the text label, is disclosed. The method further includes receiving at least one closed shape corresponding to a space for the tag layout. A processor computes a scale factor for at least one of the closed shape or the size of the text labels in the set of tags to generate the tag layout of the set of tags within the closed shape such that all the tags in the set of tags fit within the closed shape and the tags are placed in the space based at least upon the ordering of the tags in the set of tags.

Method for generating tag layouts

A relative depth of points captured by at least two recording sources are determined. A first sequence of image frames acquired from a first source and a second sequence of image frames acquired from a second source are received by a data processing system. The data processing system identifies a plurality of points-of-interest, each point-of-interest being present in both the first sequence and the second sequence. The points-of-interest are clustered into common depth planes at least by comparing motion across the sequences of different points-of-interest. Results of the clustering are stored in a processor-accessible memory system.

A method for manipulating a stereoscopic image, comprising receiving an original stereoscopic image including a left image and a right image; identifying one or more objects; determining actual object sizes and actual object locations in both the left and right images; determining original perceived three-dimensional object location and new perceived three-dimensional object locations for the identified one or more objects; determining a size magnification factors and location displacement values for each of the one or more objects; generating a new stereoscopic image by changing the actual object sizes and the actual object locations responsive to the corresponding size magnification factors and location displacement values; and storing the new stereoscopic image in a processor-accessible memory system.

Adjusting perspective for objects in stereoscopic images

A method for segmenting an anatomical structure having portions occluded in a digital image wherein the digital image is produced by a projection-based medical imaging modality. The method includes the steps of: outlining an unoccluded portion of the anatomical structure in a training image; augmenting the occluded portion of the anatomical structure according to a pre-determined atlas of the anatomical structure; generating an augmented training example using the outlined and augmented portions; repeating the steps of outlining, augmenting, and generating for a plurality of training images to train a statistical model of the structure; accessing the digital image; and segmenting the anatomical structure in the accessed digital image according to the statistical model.

A method for processing a digital color image includes the steps of: providing a subject matter detector for distinguishing between target and background subject matters; applying the subject matter detector to the image to produce a belief map indicating the degree of belief that pixels in the image belong to target subject matter; providing an image enhancement operation that is responsive to a control signal for controlling the degree of image enhancement; and applying image enhancement to the digital image by varying the control signal according to the belief map to produce an enhanced image.

Disclosed is a method for detecting subject matter regions in a digital color image having pixels of (red, green, blue) values, comprising the steps of: assigning to each pixel a belief value as belonging to the subject matter region based on color and texture features; forming spatially contiguous candidate subject matter regions by thresholding the belief values; analyzing the spatially contiguous regions based on one or more unique characteristics of the subject matter to determine the probability that a region belongs to the subject matter; and generating a map of detected subject matter regions and associated probability that the regions belongs to the subject matter.
