Antenna structures and methods of operating the same of a dual-band inverted-F antenna of an electronic device are described. One device includes a single RF feed line coupled to a dual-band inverted-F antenna. The dual-band inverted-F antenna includes a RF feed coupled to the single RF feed line; a ground element; a first arm; a second arm; and a third arm coupled to the ground element. The RF feed is located at a point that is closer to the third arm than a first opening between a distal end of the first arm and the ground element. The second arm is located on an opposite side of the first arm than the ground element, forming a second opening between the second arm and the ground element and a third opening between the second arm and the first arm.

Dual-band antenna for personal area network (PAN) and wireless local area net work (WLAN) radios

Devices, systems, and methods are provided for improving antenna isolation for collocated antennae. A device may include a first radio associated with a first antenna to transmit and receive first wireless signals using a first wireless communication technique. The device may include associated with a second antenna to transmit and receive second wireless signals using a second wireless communication technique. The device may include a multi-antenna isolation structure having a first portion and a second portion separated from the first portion, the first portion and the second portion are able to prevent the first antenna from receiving a portion of current associated with the second antenna.

Technologies directed to cylindrical antenna structures. One metallic cylindrical antenna structure includes a first surface, a second surface, and a side wall with a first height. The cylindrical antenna structure can have a low profile with the first height being less than 20 millimeters (mm). The side wall includes first and second slots, the first being centered at a first point on the side wall at a second height and oriented longitudinally along an azimuthal direction of the cylindrical antenna structure and the second being centered at a second point on the side wall at the second height and oriented longitudinally along the azimuthal direction. A feed structure is located on the center axis and is physically separated from the first and second surfaces. The cylindrical antenna structure radiates electromagnetic energy in an omnidirectional radiation pattern, responsive to a radio frequency (RF) signal being applied to the feed structure.

A streaming media player includes a printed circuit board, a video processor, a wireless communications processor, and a patch antenna. The patch antenna includes dielectric material, a conductive patch, and a first antenna feed in a first position with respect to the conductive patch. The patch antenna includes a second antenna feed in a second position with respect to the conductive patch. The first position is orthogonal to the second position. In an embodiment, the second position is rotationally offset from the first position by 90 degrees around an axis through a center of the conductive patch. The streaming media player includes a connector coupled to the video processor and configured to removably couple to a connection port on a display device.

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for streaming media content. The systems, methods, and computer-readable media described herein may improve user experiences and reduce device failures by mitigating problems between devices. In an example method described herein, a media streaming device may be connected to a display device in order to facilitate streaming of content. A processing apparatus of the media streaming device may determine that the display device is not presenting content streamed from the media streaming device and in turn switch the antenna radiation pattern from a first pattern to a second pattern.

Embodiments of the subject technology provides a novel approach to address desense and provide electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection among components for a collocated antenna and speaker configuration in a mobile computing device. The available metal around the periphery of speaker components are used as part of implementing an antenna(s) and also for tuning the antenna, which results in an efficient antenna design that can be implemented within an available (relatively small) area of a PCB and also without adding components, which could further increase the overall cost of the mobile computing device. An inductor is used to isolate the antenna away from a ground to mitigate desense for the antenna. The inductor is connected to a diode and capacitor in series. The diode provides ESD protection for the speaker. The capacitor is connected to the diode in parallel to shunt nonlinearities generated by the diode to ground.

Mitigating desense in collocated speaker and antenna system

Embodiments of the subject technology provide for controlling desense in a mobile computing device. At an application processor of a mobile computing device, a drive strength of an input clock signal is increased. The input clock signal with the increased drive strength is then provided to a filter circuit that performs low-pass filtering to block high frequency RF and EMI noise from the input clock signal. The filtered input clock signal is provided to respective camera clock units of a front-facing camera or a rear-facing camera of the mobile computing device for operating the front-facing and rear-facing cameras.
