Disclosed is creation of a very narrow bandwidth part (BWP), referred to herein as a virtual BWP. The virtual BWP is created within an operating channel that is not supported by 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) current standards (e.g., below 5 MHz). This enables a wireless network to be even more flexible in supporting a variety of use cases. In particular, the network artificially creates a small virtual BWP and assigns it to users without requiring any explicit signaling to the user for creating the virtual BWP. The virtual BWPs will limit the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), the physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) data region, the physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) and the physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) for a given user which can be associated with slicing.

Systems and methods for virtual bandwidth parts

Systems, methods, and machine-readable media facilitate cellular network security. Communications corresponding to requested network access from an external entity may be processed. Configuration specifications to instantiate network slices may be generated. The network slices may be instantiated in accordance with the configuration specifications with network access provided to user equipment of the external entity, the cellular network consequently providing the network access to the user equipment of the external entity. Signals corresponding to detection of a security event mapped to network traffic of the network slices of the cellular network may be identified. The network traffic may correspond to communications from some of the user equipment that are detected as malicious traffic. A first subset of the user equipment using the network slices to be compromised user equipment may be determined. The first subset of the user equipment or a second subset of the user equipment may be transitioned.

Systems and methods for cellular network security slicing

Various arrangements of hybrid cloud cellular network systems are presented herein. A cellular radio access network (RAN) that includes multiple base stations (BSs) can be in communication with a cloud computing platform. Multiple cloud-implemented national data center (NDC) instantiations can be present and executed on the cloud computing platform. Network functions (NFs) are executed within each cloud-implemented NDC instantiation on the cloud computing platform. The system further includes instances of a cellular network database function that updates each other instance of the cellular network database function across the NDC instantiations.

Geographically redundant and high availability system architecture for a hybrid cloud cellular network

A base station establishes a mobile communications network utilizing multiple component carriers. The base station receives one or both of location data and profile data associated with user equipment devices connected to the mobile communications network. The base station selects carrier aggregation schemes for each of the user equipment devices based on one or both of the location data and the profile data.

The systems and methods further limits users for congested channels, determines a relationship between power reduction as a result of the choking, arranges power to beamforming systems based on the choking, adjusts traffic of one or more applications, and move users of choked channels.

Method and system for traffic shaping at the DU/CU to artificially reduce the total traffic load on the radio receiver so that not all the TTLs are carrying data

Systems, methods, and devices dynamically allocate bandwidth parts in response to conditions at cell sites. An example process assigns a first plurality of slices and a second plurality of slices to communicate on a bandwidth of a cell site. The cell site operates at a first level of power consumption. A changed operating state is detected at the cell site, and the first plurality of slices is assigned to communicate on a bandwidth part of the cell site in response to detecting the changed operating state. The bandwidth part is a subset of the bandwidth. The cell site operates at a second level of power consumption in response to assigning the plurality of slices to communicate on the bandwidth part. The second level of power consumption is less than the first level of power consumption.

Method and system for smart operating bandwidth adaptation during power outages

Systems and methods are provided for adaptive mini-slot management in a network, including an element management control unit comprising a set of distribution and central units (DU/CU) to monitor power and channel traffic at a plurality of cell sites in the network; a scheduler unit for user equipment (UE) to enable and disable a set of mini-slots in a downlink (DL) pattern and an uplink (UL) pattern including at least two concatenated patterns jointly repeated with periodicity in a slot configuration period for new radio (NR) communications by users at cell sites in the network; and in response to a request by a user, the scheduler unit reserves a number of mini-slots for use in each slot configuration period wherein a reserved slot number is responsive to at least one of a condition of an AC power outage, and reduced channel traffic based on data received by the DU/CU about the condition.

Systems and methods of adaptive bandwidth (BW) management are provided by a control unit of distribution and central units to monitor power and traffic loads at a plurality of network nodes; a BW management unit communicating with the control unit to reassign a set of network slices with a set of smaller bandwidth parts (BWPs); the BW management unit configured to define a smaller BWP from a slice mapping for the slice reassignment during a AC power outage, the slicing mapping includes network slices tied to smaller BWPs in the network; and the BW management unit configured to adapt BW for users at the node by reassigning of at least one network slice with a defined smaller BWP at the node in response to a condition determined by the BW management unit, the condition of at least one of a AC power outage and reduced traffic load.

Method and system for slicing assigning for load shedding to minimize power consumption where gNB is controlled for slice assignments for enterprise users

Various network slice assignment arrangements are presented. A network slice management system can create a multi-dimensional attribute matrix that defines network slices that operate on a physical cellular network. Using a machine learning algorithm, network slices that operate on the physical cellular network can be clustered based on attributes to create slice classes. A classification process to determine a slice class that most closely matches a cellular network service request may be performed. A network slice can then be selected from the slice class and be used for providing cellular network service.

Network slice assignment control systems and methods

Systems and methods to utilize user device self-reported quality metrics and machine learning mechanisms to optimize management of user device mobility in a cellular network. Cells in the network obtain quality data for one or more user devices in communication with the cells, including channel-quality-indicator values, reference-signal-received-power values, and reference-signal-received-quality values. The quality data is processed by a machine learning mechanism to generate a separate quality report for each cell. In response to receiving a request to handover communications for a target user device, the quality reports are utilized to select a cell that is predicted to provide the best quality communications for the target user device.

Various arrangements of hybrid cloud cellular network systems are presented herein. A cellular radio access network (RAN) that includes multiple base stations (BSs) can be in communication with a cloud computing platform. Multiple cloud-implemented national data centers (NDCs) can be present and executed on the public cloud computing platform. Network functions (NFs) are executed within each cloud-implemented NDC on the public cloud computing platform. The system further includes a cellular network database function. An instance of the cellular network database function is executed within each cloud-implemented NDC on the public cloud computing platform and updates each other instance of the cellular network database function.

Systems and methods are provided for adaptive channel and traffic shaping management in a network including configuring an element management control unit comprising a set of distribution (DU) and central units (DU/CU) for monitoring power and channel traffic at a plurality of cell sites in a network; transmitting and receiving by a scheduler unit, data traffic data of user equipment (UE); receiving control data, by the scheduler unit, about congested network channels in Uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) transmissions from the UE; applying channel management solutions, by the scheduler unit, at a cell site to choke off congested channels via a schedule schema based on the control data about the traffic amounts on a channel; applying, by a control unit coupled to the scheduler unit to manage network traffic at the cell site, adaptive traffic management solutions to shape network data traffic on select channels based on the control data of traffic type on the channel; and iteratively applying, by the control unit, the channel and traffic management solutions at the cell site based on data received by the DU/CU of the power and channel traffic condition.

Novel techniques are described for coexistence of multiple radio technologies in a shared frequency band. Techniques described herein enable multiple radiofrequency networks using different radio technologies to coexist on a same carrier frequency by exploiting various frequency- and/or time-domain sharing of scheduled resources. For example, data signals are received for transmission over different radio networks according to different radio technologies (having different respective sub-carrier definitions and timeslot definitions). A coexistence resource schedule is computed from the communication resource grids define an allocation of sub-carrier and/or timeslot resources among the radio technologies. Radio technologies can then be generated from the data signals in accordance with the coexistence resource schedule and the communication resource grids. The radio signals can then be transmitted over the radio networks, with the multiple radio technologies coexisting in orthogonal components of a communication channel.

Systems and methods of adaptive bandwidth (BW) management are provided by a control unit of distribution and central units to monitor power and traffic loads at a plurality of nodes in a network; a BW management unit communicating with the control unit to reassign a set of network slices with a set of smaller bandwidth parts (BWPs); the BW management unit configured to define a smaller BWP from a slice mapping for the slice reassignment during a AC power outage, the slicing mapping includes network slices tied to smaller BWPs in the network; and the BW management unit configured to adapt BW for users at the node by reassigning of at least one network slice with a defined smaller BWP at the node in response to a condition determined by the BW management unit, the condition of at least one of a AC power outage, and reduced traffic load at the node.
