A method of oxidizing a component of an aqueous medium is provided. The method includes adding an effective amount of an oxidizing composition to the aqueous medium. The oxidizing composition includes an ingredient, such as hydrogen peroxide, a percarbonate salt, a peroxy compound, a chlorite or alkali metal salt thereof, a chlorate or alkali metal salt thereof, or any combination thereof. The method also includes oxidizing the component. The component may be a metal, a mineral, a microbial metabolite, an organic molecule, or combination thereof. The method also includes modulating the application of the oxidizing composition based on a measured aqueous medium parameter.

Method for controlling odor and taste producing metabolites in water systems through use of primary and secondary oxidation processes

The methods disclosed generally relate to treatment of process water using chlorine dioxide. Specifically, reactants may be fed asynchronously into a diluent line or a tank where the reactants may mix and react to form chlorine dioxide. The chlorine dioxide levels may fluctuate in the diluent line or the tank thereby inhibiting or reducing the growth of microbes.

Method for onsite production of chlorine dioxide

Provided are methods of inhibiting microbial fouling and improving efficiency in biocide dosing in an industrial process containing an aqueous liquid having a biocide demand. In exemplary embodiments, the methods comprise treating an aqueous liquid having a biocide demand with a biocide, monitoring the biocide demand of the aqueous liquid, and filtering a stream of the aqueous liquid. The filtering may be performed in a full-flow or side stream manner.

Methods of inhibiting fouling in liquid systems

A method of cleaning a cooling water system is disclosed. The method may include contacting a cooling tower fill with a composition that may include a surfactant and an additive selected from an oxidizing agent, an acid, and any combination thereof when the cooling water system is off-line. The method may include contacting a deposit in the cooling tower fill with the composition. The oxidizing agent may be hydrogen peroxide, sodium hypochlorite, chlorine dioxide, ozone, sodium hypobromite, sodium or potassium permanganate, or any combination thereof. The surfactant may include a C-Calkyl polyglycoside and a C-Calkyl polyglycoside.

Method for off-line cleaning of cooling towers

The present disclosure generally relates to washing or rinsing of packages, containers, and associated lids. More particularly, the disclosure pertains to a washing or rinsing apparatus for cleaning packaging for biocides. A rinsing apparatus is that includes a housing, which has a wash section and a drain section. The rinsing apparatus includes a stop plate disposed within the housing that divides the wash section from the drain section. The apparatus includes a solution distribution nozzle disposed within the wash section of the housing.

Automated washing or rinsing apparatus for packages, containers, and associated lids

A system for dissolving solid chemical may include three reservoirs positioned in a vertically stacked arrangement. A solid chemical reservoir configured to receive solid chemical to be dissolved may be nested in a solution generator reservoir into which water is introduced to erode the solid chemical. A dissolved chemical reservoir can be positioned under the solid chemical reservoir and the solution generator reservoir. The dissolved chemical reservoir can store solution generated using the system. In some examples, a recirculation circuit is used to recirculate water introduced into the solution generator reservoir until a solution having a target concentration of the chemical being dissolved is achieved. The recirculation circuit may include a recirculation line having an outlet aimed at the bottom wall of the solid chemical reservoir.

The invention provides methods and compositions for the protection of a membrane from both biofouling and from damage caused by a biocide. The invention utilizes PAA as both a biocide and as a reducing agent for other oxidizing biocides. The method includes providing a filtration system in communication with a controller, wherein the controller is operable to automatically initiate a flow from the process stream into the filtration system when the system parameter of the process stream is within above an upper threshold value and/or below a lower threshold value; and activating the filtration system, wherein the flow comprises a flow rate through the filtration system and the controller is operable to adjust the flow rate.

Method of maintaining water quality in a process stream

A method of producing stable disinfectant for use as a biocidal composition. The method comprises: providing reagents, asynchronously feeding the reagents into a wide space, and allowing all the reagents to come into contact and mix with each other. The reagents comprise: a) an amine source in concentrated form, b) an oxidizing halogen compound in concentrated form, and c) a diluent. The use of asynchronous feeding and a wide space results in a dynamic biocide regimen. This regimen results in a changing environment that infestations have difficulty adapting to. This method also imparts superior results due to the avoidance of channeling effects which would otherwise weaken the effects of the biocide.

Methods for the on-site production of chloramine and uses thereof

The invention provides a method of controlling biological fouling of water containing items. The method involves combining at least two reactants, a peroxygen source and an acyl group donor to form peracetic acid. Because the peracetic acid can be made in situ, the entire sum of its short lifespan can be used controlling biocidal fouling and storage and transport is simplified. The invention further facilitates the ease of controlling biocidal fouling by allowing the injection of the biocidal agent in liquid form, in a non-acidic environment, and without the need for any halogen. This allows the inventive biocide to be used with chemistries for which prior art biocides are inapplicable.

A method of simultaneously cleaning and disinfecting an industrial water system is described and claimed. The method involves the addition to the water of the industrial water system of a Compound selected from the group consisting of the alkali salts of chlorite and chlorate and mixtures thereof; and an acid, followed by allowing the water in the industrial water system to circulate for several hours. The reaction of the alkali salts of chlorite and chlorate and acid produces chlorine dioxide in-situ in the water of the industrial water system. The chlorine dioxide kills microorganisms and the acid acts to remove deposits upon the water-contact surfaces of the equipment. This cleaning and disinfecting method works in a variety of industrial water systems including cooling water systems.

On-Line and Off-Line methods of simultaneously cleaning and disinfecting an industrial water system are described and claimed. The methods involve the addition to the water of the industrial water system of a Compound selected from the group consisting of the alkali salts of chlorite and chlorate and mixtures thereof; and an acid, followed by allowing the water in the industrial water system to circulate for several hours. The reaction of the alkali salts of chlorite and chlorate and acid produces chlorine dioxide in-situ in the water of the industrial water system. The chlorine dioxide kills microorganisms and the acid acts to remove deposits upon the water-contact surfaces of the equipment. An alternative method involves the use of a chelating agent and a biocide. Other possible cleaning and disinfection reagents may be added as needed including corrosion inhibitors, chelating agents, biocides, surfactants and reducing agents. These cleaning and disinfecting methods work in a variety of industrial water systems including cooling water and boiler water systems.

Methods of simultaneously cleaning and disinfecting industrial water systems

A method of providing a continuous, sequential, and cyclic, if desired, liquid feed to a processor from a plurality of containers, which comprises feeding the liquid from a first of the containers through a first conduit to a reservoir having a float valve, to keep the level of the liquid in the reservoir high enough to maintain the float valve in an upper floating position that closes the float valve. The first conduit is uncontrolled by the float valve. The float valve controls a second conduit which connects with a second container. As liquid is withdrawn from the reservoir for processing, liquid from the first conduit and container replenishes the reservoir until it is exhausted. Then, the liquid level drops, and the float valve opens the second conduit for replenishing the reservoir with liquid from the second container. A crossover valve may be used so that the float valve controls flow from either container connected to the second conduit.
