Collaborative enhanced sensing systems and techniques are described. A system obtains sensor data of an environment from one or more sensors. The sensor data includes different representations of one or more portions of the environment from multiple perspectives. The system identifies a subset of the different representations of the one or more portions of the environment based on context corresponding to a vehicle in the environment. The context can include, for example, a position, a direction of travel, a speed, and/or a planned movement of the vehicle. The system causes an enhanced representation of the environment for the vehicle to be generated at least in part based on consolidating and/or fusing together the subset of the different representations. The system can cause an indication of the enhanced representation of the environment to be output at the vehicle.

Systems and methods of collaborative enhanced sensing

Various embodiments include method performed by a processor of a roadside unit (RSU) processing system for controlling a message transmissions. In various embodiments, the RSU processing system may receive vehicle-to-everything (V2X) information from a vehicle, determine, based on the received V2X information, a minimum reception distance at which the vehicle or operator of the vehicle will reliably receive a message from the RSU and have time for the vehicle to react to the message, determine a transmission power level based on the determined minimum reception distance, and transmit the message to the vehicle using the determined transmission power level. In various embodiments, the RSU processing system may determine the transmission power level taking into account vehicle speeds, vehicle locations, road conditions, weather conditions and/or the type of message being transmitted.

Roadside unit message transmission management

Techniques for determining an alternative communication mode for vehicle-to-vehicle communication at a host vehicle can include monitoring the primary mode of RF communication to ensure it is effectively communicating and, if not, intelligently selecting a backup communication mode comprising one or more other sensors and/or systems of the vehicle. The selection of the backup communication mode may take into account various factors that can affect the various modes of communication from which the backup communication mode is selected.

Embodiments are disclosed that include systems and methods performed by a processor of a designated platoon vehicle, including establishing an out-of-band vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication link with a target vehicle in response to determining a change in the quantity of vehicles included in the platoon is approved, wherein the out-of-band V2V communication link extends laterally more than a first V2V communication link with an initially-adjacent platoon vehicle, expanding the first V2V communication link for maintaining communications with the initially-adjacent platoon vehicle while changing a relative positioning between the designated platoon vehicle and the initially-adjacent platoon vehicle, establishing a second V2V communication link with the target vehicle, and ending the out-of-band V2V communication link in response to the target vehicle taking the place of the initially-adjacent platoon vehicle immediately adjacent to and either in front of or behind the designated platoon vehicle.

Methods of operating a wireless data bus in vehicle platoons

In an embodiment, a client device obtains a list of client devices registered in association with a particular client application, and then detects listed client device(s) as proximate via a local communications interface. One of the proximate client devices is identified as responsible for sending an aggregated registration request message for renewing their respective application registrations with a server. In another embodiment, the server receives a registration message for the client application from a client device and detects that at least one other registered client device for that client application is proximate to the requesting client device. The server attempts to preemptively renew the registrations for both the requesting client device and the at least one other registered client device based on the proximity detection.

Methods and apparatuses for optimizing performance using data from an Internet of Things (IoT) device with analytics engines. The method receives, from a requesting Internet of Things (IoT) device, a request for trend data of physical resource consumption based at least in part on a portion of received data from at least one of a plurality of IoT devices. The method retrieves, from memory of an analytics engine, at least the portion of the received data. The method calculates, in a calculator of the analytics engine, the trend data based on at least the portion of the received data. The method transmits, to the requesting IoT device, the calculated trend data, wherein the requesting IoT device adjusts parameters in an IoT device using the calculated trend data.

Various embodiments include systems and methods of displaying visual infotainment information to a vehicle operator. A processor of an infotainment system may provide visual infotainment information to be displayed on a first display when the infotainment system is operating in a first display mode. The processor may determine whether a change in state or operation of the vehicle is within a predetermined threshold variance while the infotainment system is operating in the first display mode. The processor may transition from the first display mode to a second display mode in response to determining that the change in state or operation of the vehicle is within the predetermined threshold variance and provide the visual infotainment information to be displayed on a second display when the infotainment system is operating in the second display mode in a manner configured to guide the operator's attention to an external environment of the vehicle.

Transitioning displays in autonomous vehicles to increase driver attentiveness

The disclosure relates to mechanisms that may be used to route notifications in an Internet of Things (IoT) environment according to user activity and/or proximity detection. More particularly, in various embodiments, an entity that manages the IoT environment may receive one or more messages, actions, or responses that indicate detected activity or detected proximity associated with one or more users from one or more IoT devices in the IoT environment. The management entity may then establish an activity and proximity trail from the one or more messages, actions, or responses that indicate the detected activity or the detected proximity, whereby in response to an IoT device reporting one or more notifications, an IoT device in proximity to at least one of the one or more users may be identified and the one or more notifications may be routed to the identified IoT device.

Mechanisms to route IoT notifications according to user activity and/or proximity detection

A mobile device is capable of enabling one or more location data sources for location determination of the mobile device. The mobile device may receive a request for an emergency location session, e.g., by a user dialing E911 or from an external client. At least one location data source in the mobile device is determined to be disabled. For example, the location data sources may be a WLAN transceiver or a WPAN transceiver, as well as camera sensors and environmental sensors. The disabled location data source (s) is enabled and location data is obtained from the enabled location data source(s). The location data may be provided, e.g., to a location server. The status of the location data source (s) may be restored, e.g., disabled, after the location data is obtained or after the emergency location session is completed.

Systems and methods for connecting a proxy device to a mobile device are disclosed. In an aspect, the proxy device continuously scans for the mobile device, wherein the mobile device broadcasts advertising messages to connect to the proxy device, connects to the mobile device in response to the mobile device coming into communication range of the proxy device, and sends information to the mobile device, the information configured to enable the mobile device to connect to a low energy device.

In the network-based group management and floor control mechanism disclosed herein, a server may receive a request to occupy a shared IoT resource from a member device in an IoT device group and transmit a message granting the member IoT device permission to occupy the shared IoT resource based on one or more policies. For example, the granted permission may comprise a floor that blocks other IoT devices from accessing the shared IoT resource while the member IoT device holds the floor. Furthermore, the server may revoke the permission if the member IoT device fails to transmit a keep-alive message before a timeout period expires, a high-priority IoT device pre-empts the floor, and/or based on the policies. Alternatively, the server may make the shared IoT resource available if the member IoT device sends a message that voluntarily releases the floor.

Coordinated resource sharing in machine-to-machine communication using a network-based group management and floor control mechanism

The disclosure generally relates to enabling communication among one or more Internet of Things (IoT) device groups. In particular, various heterogeneous IoT devices that may need to interact with one another in different ways may be organized into IoT device groups to support efficient interaction among the IoT devices. For example, pre-defined IoT device groups may be formed organize certain IoT devices that perform similar activities and certain IoT devices may be dynamically allocated to ad-hoc IoT device groups for certain contexts (e.g., the ad-hoc IoT device groups may include IoT devices that can implement a desired function and therefore be dynamically formed to implement the desired function). Furthermore, the IoT groups may communicate hierarchically, wherein messages may be exchanged among IoT group owners or ranking members to support efficient communication between different IoT groups.
