Provided is a patch including at least one pressure-absorbing member, the pressure absorbing member formed of a resilient material and having at least a first surface, the at least first surface is configured with a plurality of projections extending therefrom and a plurality of channels crossing one another at a plurality of intersections, an outermost surface of said plurality of projections lies along a projections plane of the pressure-absorbing member, the projections being deformable when subjected to pressure applied to the patch, so as to absorb at least some of the applied pressure.

Pressure absorbing skin patch and method of manufacturing same

The invention provides a system and method for detecting or monitoring neuropathy in an individual. The system of the invention includes a platform having a surface in which a plurality of stimulators is embedded. Each stimulator is configured to stimulate a region in a skin area when the skin area is applied to the platform. The stimulators may deliver thermal and/or vibrational energy to the skin region. In the method of the invention, a skin area is applied to platform and one of the stimulators is activated. A minimal stimulation is determined that is sensed by the individual in a skin region in contact with a stimulator. Neuropathy in the skin region in contact with the stimulator is detected if either the determined minimal stimulation is above a predetermined threshold, or if a stimulation is not sensed before a magnitude of the stimulation reaches a predetermined maximal magnitude. The process is then repeated with other stimulators.

Method and system for detecting neuropathy

The present invention discloses a novel cervical collar for maintaining the airways in head and neck immobilized trauma patient open. This collar comprises a rigid motion-restricting frame () attached to the head (); and, a jaw clasp () attached to the jaw (). The collar is simultaneously restricting the motion of the head () and neck while allowing motion of the jaw () to maintain open airways. A jaw clasp () useful for performing the jaw-thrust maneuver motion of the jaw () to maintain open airways is also presented. Said device comprising a plurality of movable fitting elements adapted to fit the jaw () tightly; and, a plurality of movable mover elements adapted to move the jaw ().
