A system comprising a processing circuitry configured to: obtain a first ordered sequence of symbols associated with a corresponding second ordered sequence of transmitted symbols and including one or more errors, the errors being discrepancies between given symbols of the first ordered sequence and corresponding symbols of the second ordered sequence; determine, for each symbol of the first ordered sequence of symbols, an estimated transmitted symbol, utilizing a Decision Feedback Equalizer (DFE); and determine if the estimated transmitted symbol of a given symbol of the first ordered sequence of symbols, satisfies a saturation threshold condition; and determine an error hypothesis identifying one or more of the errors by comparing the estimated transmitted symbol of at least one symbol of the first ordered sequence of symbols with one or more pairs of thresholds.

Sequence estimation system and method

A rate Detection Apparatus (RDA) includes a power spectral density (PSD) estimator and a rate selector. The PSD estimator is configured to receive samples of a signal, and to estimate a PSD of the signal. The rate selector is configured to identify a transmission rate of the signal responsively to the estimated PSD.

Received-signal rate detection

Techniques and apparatus for efficiently performing rate selection and transmit gain selection are provided. The techniques may be performed, for example, by a transmitting entity in the absence of explicit MCS selection reporting by a receiving entity. One technique includes outputting first packets for transmission using a first modulation and coding scheme (MCS) value and via a transmit power amplifier (PA) configured according to a transmit gain parameter associated with the first MCS value. Feedback indicating whether the first packets have been received is obtained, a second MCS value for second packets is selected based on the feedback, and the transmit gain parameter is adjusted if one or more criteria are met. Second packets are output for transmission using the second MCS value and, thereafter, additional packets are output for transmission based on the first MCS value and the adjusted transmit gain parameter.

Transmitter link enhancement techniques

Certain aspects relate to methods, apparatuses, computer readable mediums and wireless nodes. For example, an apparatus generally includes an interface configured to obtain, during a TXOP owned by a second apparatus, at least one first frame from the second apparatus and a processing system configured to (i) determine a MCS associated with the at least one first frame, (ii) increase a value of a counter if the MCS associated with the at least one first frame is the same as a MCS associated with a frame previously obtained by the apparatus during the TXOP and (iii) take one or more actions based on the counter value.

Link adaptation enhancements

Techniques for multiplexing pilots in a wireless transmission are described. In one aspect, a transmitter station generates multiple pilot sequences for multiple transmit antennas, with each pilot sequence comprising pilot symbols sent in the time domain on a different set of subcarriers. The transmitter station further generates multiple pilot transmissions for the transmit antennas based on the pilot sequences. In another aspect, a transmitter station generates multiple pilot sequences for multiple transmit antennas based on frequency-domain code division multiplexing (FD-CDM) of a Chu sequence defined by a transmitter-specific value. The transmitter station further generates multiple pilot transmissions for the transmit antennas based on the pilot sequences. In yet another aspect, a transmitter station generates multiple pilot transmissions for multiple transmit antennas based on a first multiplexing scheme and generates multiple data transmissions based on a second multiplexing scheme that is different from the first multiplexing scheme.
