This disclosure relates to techniques for performing wireless communications including exchanging information related to capability of processing reference signals. A user equipment device may provide capability information to a network. The capability information may indicate a number of reference signal resources that the user equipment device can process in a slot or other defined period of time. The user equipment device and the network may share a common set of definitions, counting rules, and approaches for interpreting the capability information. The network may configure reference signals for the user equipment device.

Resource counting for reference signals

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for cancellation and/or replacement of PUSCHs. A user equipment device (UE) may configure a first PUSCH and a second PUSCH, where the first PUSCH may correspond to a configured grant and where the second PUSCH may correspond to a configured grant or scheduled by a PDCCH on a serving cell. The UE may determine that at least one transmission occasion associated with the first PUSCH overlaps in time with at least one transmission occasion associated with the second PUSCH. The UE may drop transmissions scheduled for the second PUSCH, e.g., based on determining that a priority of the first PUSCH is higher than a priority of the second PUSCH, e.g., starting with a first symbol of a repetition of the second PUSCH which overlaps in time with one or more repetitions of the first PUSCH.

Cancellation and replacement of PUSCH

In an aspect, a UE determines whether there is an overlap between a first uplink transmission channel allocated for transmission of a first uplink transmission and a second uplink transmission channel allocated for transmission of second uplink transmission. The UE generates a combined uplink transmission payload in response to a determination that there is the overlap, wherein the combined uplink transmission payload includes at least a portion of the first uplink transmission and at least a portion of the second uplink transmission. The UE transmits the combined uplink transmission payload on either the first uplink transmission channel or the second uplink transmission channel. A base station receives the combined uplink transmission payload transmitted by the UE.

Collision handling

In an embodiment, a UE receives a first uplink grant for a first RAT (e.g., 5G NR) and a second uplink grant for a second RAT (e.g., LTE). In one embodiment, the UE schedules an uplink transmission on the first RAT (e.g., by selectively dropping the uplink transmission on particular resource blocks) so as to manage an amount of time that is based on concurrent uplink transmissions on both the first and second RATs are performed. In another embodiment, the UE establishes a first period of time where a BSR transmitted by the UE on the first RAT is adjusted based on scheduling of concurrent uplink multi-RAT transmissions, and a second period of time where no BSR is transmitted by the UE on the first RAT based where concurrent uplink transmissions on both the first and second RATs are not permitted to be scheduled.

Managing concurrent multi-rat uplink transmissions at a user equipment

Wireless communications systems and methods related to the timing arrangements and the transmission gap configurations in 2-step random access channel (RACH) procedures to improve system latency and reliability of a RACH HARQ process are provided. The UE transmits a first message including a random access preamble and a payload, and then monitors for a second message in response to the first message during a random access response (RAR) window. In response to determining that no second message is received by the UE from the BS or a back off indicator is received within the RAR window, the UE re-transmits the preamble and payload of the first message after the RAR window lapses. In response to determining if the second message received within the RAR window carries a FallbackRAR or SuccessRAR, the UE then determines to re-transmit the payload of the first message based on the FallbackRAR, or to transmit an acknowledgement message based on the SuccessRAR.

Systems and methods for latency reduction for 2-step random access channel (RACH) hybrid automatic repeat requests (HARQ)

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for avoiding collisions between hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback transmissions and between HARQ feedback transmissions and other transmissions. In one example, a base station may configure resources for HARQ feedback transmissions such that the resources are exclusive of each other to avoid collisions between HARQ feedback transmissions. In another example, a base station may indicate resources for a user equipment (UE) to use for HARQ feedback transmissions such that the resources are exclusive of each other to avoid collisions between HARQ feedback transmissions. In yet another example, if a HARQ feedback transmission and another transmission are scheduled on overlapping resources, a UE may be configured to multiplex bits of the HARQ feedback transmission and the other transmission or drop the other transmission.

Hybrid automatic repeat request feedback for low latency transmissions

Provided is a method for a user equipment (UE), comprising: obtaining one or more indications associated with uplink transmission scheduled by one or more uplink (UL) grants, the one or more UL grants including a UL grant for a physical uplink share channel (PUSCH) with uplink control information (UCI), selecting a UL grant for transmission from the one or more UL grants based at least in part upon the one or more indications, such that the UL grant for the PUSCH with UCI is prioritized for selection, and causing a PUSCH corresponding to the selected UL grant to be transmitted.

Uplink grant prioritization enhancement

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for selecting a PRACH occasion (RO) based on downlink quality, access congestion, latency (e.g., time to next available RO), beam correspondence, random access in previous transmissions, or combinations of these factors. The user equipment (UE) may detect access congestion of synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) and select the less congested SSB in the RO selection. The UE may detect the access congestion by receiving a back-off indicator from the base station, detecting a contention resolution failure, or the number or media access control (MAC) subheaders in a random access response. In some cases, the ROs associated with different SSBs have different latencies and the UE may select the earliest available RO.

Resource selection for random access

A configurable new radio (NR) RACH procedure that may be executed by a UE and a base station is disclosed. A configuration to determine, by a user equipment, a random access procedure timeline, from multiple random access procedure timelines that each define a different duration between one or more messages that are communicated in a random access procedure can be determined or transmitted. A random access preamble can be received from the UE based on the random access procedure timeline, and a response to the random access preamble can be determined or transmitted based on the random access procedure timeline.

Random access procedure timing designs

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for time division duplex configuration override. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes detecting a period during which a configuration of a first radio access technology (RAT) conflicts with a configuration of a second RAT for a frequency band; and overriding the configuration of the second RAT with the configuration of the first RAT for the period.

Time division duplex configuration override

Systems and methods are provided for controlling behavior for overriding grants for channel state information (CSI) feedback. A user equipment (UE) may control override of a first grant of a first radio resource by a second grant of a second radio resource. The UE determines that the second radio resource at least partially overlaps with the first radio resource. The UE also determines a physical layer priority of the first grant of the first radio resource and the second grant of the second radio resource. The physical layer priority is based on at least one of the first grant of the first radio resource and the second grant of the second radio resource being configured for transmitting CSI feedback over a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) to a base station. The UE then generates a transmission according to the physical layer priority.

Systems and methods for overriding grants for CSI-feedback

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine whether a collision is to occur between a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) transmission that includes a scheduling request (SR), and multiple physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmissions in a slot. The UE may transmit, to a base station (BS), the PUCCH transmission or the multiple PUSCH transmissions based at least in part on determining whether the collision is to occur in the slot. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Scheduling request (SR) overlap with a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a user equipment (UE) may wake up from a sleep mode of a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle based on receipt of uplink data. The UE may determine if an elapsed time between a prior receipt of one or more reference signals and an uplink transmission to the base station after waking up from the sleep mode is less than a threshold time value. If the elapsed time is less than the threshold time value, the UE may transmit an uplink transmission associated with the received uplink data prior to receiving one or more reference signals that may be used to update transmission parameters for uplink transmissions. If the elapsed time is at or above the threshold value, the UE may wait to receive the one or more reference signals and update the transmission parameters prior to the uplink transmission.

Discontinuous reception wakeup techniques

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a first slot format configuration for a first serving cell for a set of transmission time intervals (TTIs) including a first TTI and receive a second slot format configuration for the first serving cell for the first TTI which is different from the first slot format configuration. The UE may determine, based on priorities of the slot format configurations, a first communication direction for the first serving cell for the first TTI. The UE may identify, for a second serving cell for the first TTI, a second communication direction indicated by one or more slot format configurations for the second serving cell. The UE may determine whether to communicate on the second serving cell for the first TTI according to the one or more slot format configurations for the second serving cell.
