A backscatter communication device assistant may be provided. A computing device may designate a client device as a backscatter communication device assistant. Next, a report indicating a location of a backscatter communication device may be received from the backscatter communication device assistant. Then the backscatter communication device may be caused to receive energy. Data originating from the backscatter communication device may then be received.

Cooperating delegated devices for backscattering communication and energy harvesting

Group identity assignment and policy enforcement may be provided. A User Defined Network Identifier (UDN ID) defining a group of client devices may be received. Next, a client identifier (ID) associated with a source client device that is associated with the group of client devices may be received. The UDN ID and the client ID may be encoded in an Extended Local Identifier (ELI) Media Access Control (MAC) address associated with the source client device. A source MAC address of a packet received from the source client device may then be substituted with the ELI MAC address. Then the packet may be forwarded.

Group identity assignment and policy enforcement for devices within the same network

In one embodiment, a device identifies a plurality of paths in a wireless backhaul network between a gateway and a plurality of access points that provide wireless connectivity to a mobile system. The device determines a movement of the mobile system. The device determines, based on the movement of the mobile system, that a particular path in the plurality of paths is not needed to provide wireless connectivity to the mobile system. The device causes one or more networking nodes along the particular path to enter into a power saving mode.

Reducing power consumption in mesh networks

Techniques for wireless communication are disclosed. These techniques include defining a message schedule for fine time measurement (FTM) at a first wireless access point (AP). The techniques further include broadcasting the message schedule to a plurality of wireless stations (STAs) from the first AP. The techniques further include receiving, at the first AP, a plurality of FTM messages from the plurality of STAs, the messages transmitted by the plurality of STAs based on the message schedule. The techniques further include determining a distance between the first AP and each of the plurality of STAs based on the plurality of FTM messages.

Full mesh fine time measurement

Methods are provided to determine validity of a MAC address. The methods involve obtaining a media access control (MAC) address validity message that indicates a plurality of valid MAC addresses in the wireless network using a fully-exploded format or a probabilistic data structure and determining whether a MAC address is valid based on the MAC address validity message. Other methods involve obtaining a query regarding a validity of a media access control (MAC) address, determining whether the MAC address is a value included in a data set of expected values of a probabilistic data structure. The data set represents a list of MAC addresses. The other methods involve determining whether the MAC address is valid in the wireless network based on determining whether the MAC address is the value included in the data set and providing a response indicating whether the MAC address is valid.

Preventing abuse of media access control addresses by rogue devices

In one embodiment, a mobile node in a wireless network determines a physical location of the mobile node. The mobile node obtains telemetry data. The mobile node makes a comparison between the physical location of the mobile node and a location-based telemetry reporting policy. The mobile node sends, based on the comparison, the telemetry data via the wireless network.

Balancing Multi-link Operation (MLO) usage may be provided. A list of a plurality of Access Points (APs) for each of a plurality of Multi-link Operation (MLO) types indicating availability of each of the plurality of APs may be received. A first request indicating an MLO type associated with the first request is a first MLO type may be received. In response to the first request, a first subset of the list of the plurality of APs that support the MLO type associated with the first request may be sent. A second request indicating that an MLO type associated with the second request is the first MLO type may be received. In response to the second request, a second subset of the list of the plurality of APs that support the MLO type associated with the second request may be sent. The first subset is different from the second subset.

Stable balancing of multi-link operation (MLO) usage in crowded space

Presented herein are techniques to address a lack of path maximum transmission unit discovery in the context of, e.g., the control and provisioning of wireless access point (CAPWAP) protocol for multicast communications. In one embodiment, IPv4-IPv6-IPv4 network address translation is used to avoid a conservative maximum transmission unit size. In another embodiment, unicast and multicast path maximum transmission unit discovery techniques are executed to set the maximum transmission unit size for multicast communications.

Techniques for improving telemetry in resource-constrained device environments. In some examples, the techniques include gossiping telemetry information between peer devices of a wireless network to, among other things, reduce telemetry cost and/or an amount of telemetry data streamed to a telemetry collector. In some examples, the techniques may also include intelligently exporting telemetry data from resource-constrained devices towards backend systems without exhausting the resource-constrained devices and/or the backend systems. In examples, the telemetry data may be contextual information associated with an endpoint, an application, a network-device resource (e.g., CPU, battery, memory, storage, etc.), geographical constraints, and/or the like.

Disclosed are systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media for identifying a location of a wireless device. A method for identifying a location of a wireless device includes transmitting a request message to the wireless device for identifying a position of the wireless device; receiving a response message from the wireless device; determining first time information based on a time of flight (ToF) of the request message and the response message, wherein the ToF corresponds to a distance of the wireless device from the AP; receiving a second message from a second AP that includes second time information associated with the request message and the response message; receiving a third message from a third AP that includes third time information associated with the request message and the response message; and transmitting location configuration information to the wireless device for the wireless device to determine a position of the wireless device.

Estimating position from reference signals received by coordinating access points

In one embodiment, a controller for an overhead mesh of access points in an area receives an indication from one or more access points of the overhead mesh that a client device is present in the area. The controller determines movements of the client device within the area. The controller selects a set of access points of the overhead mesh to support communications between the client device and the overhead mesh, based on the movements of the client device determined by the controller. The controller causes the controller, the set of access points to form communication schedules to support communications with the client device that do not require a prior association exchange with the client device.

Backscatter Device (BKD) placement and placement calibration may be provided. A plurality of ambient energy sources in a Three-Dimensional (3D) space may be identified and mapped. Each of the plurality of ambient energy sources may be categorized as one of the following: a stationary and controllable ambient energy source, a stationary and uncontrollable ambient energy source, and a mobile ambient energy source. An amount of ambient energy available at each of a plurality of sub-spaces of the 3D space may be determined. The amount of ambient energy available at each of the plurality of sub-spaces may be determined by determining a first amount of ambient energy that is continuously available and a second amount of ambient energy that is likely available at each of the plurality of sub-spaces of the 3D space.

In one embodiment, a method is disclosed comprising monitoring dynamic locations of a plurality of mobile communication devices within a physical area covered by a wireless communication network, wherein keys are distributed to the mobile communication devices at association time; determining that a particular mobile communication device should have a relay for communication with the network based on a first location of the particular mobile communication device and inadequate wireless communication characteristics at the first location; selecting an opportunistic relay device from the mobile communication devices based on a second location of the opportunistic relay device and adequate wireless communication characteristics of the opportunistic relay device within the network and to the first location from the second location; and directing the opportunistic relay device to relay communications for the particular mobile communication device at the first location, wherein the communications are encrypted based on the keys.

In one embodiment, a device sends data traffic to a gateway of a backhaul mesh network via a first wireless access point of the backhaul mesh network. The device maintains, while associated with the first wireless access point, an association with a second wireless access point of the backhaul mesh network by sending a frame to the first wireless access point that is relayed by the first wireless access point to the second wireless access point. The device makes a determination that additional data traffic should be sent to the gateway of the backhaul mesh network via the second wireless access point. The device sends, based on the determination, the additional data traffic to the gateway of the backhaul mesh network via the second wireless access point.
