A housing system includes a housing body having an internal cavity and an opening. A cap is removably fitted to the opening using a set of sliders. Each slider in the set of sliders has a fixed rail secured to an internal surface of the housing body and a dynamic rail connected to an inner surface of the cap. The cap slides between open and closed configurations on the dynamic rail. One or more components are also connected to the inner surface of the cap, such that when the cap is opened, the one or more components are accessible.

Flexible linear accessible controls subsea

A riser sensor unit is used to sense engagement of a subsea riser tool with a riser coupling. The riser sensor unit includes a power supply configured to convert alternating current to direct current, an intrinsic safety barrier connected to the power supply, and a first sensor powered by the intrinsic safety barrier. The first sensor is attached to a sub of the subsea riser tool and is configured to generate a first signal upon detecting contact of a bottom surface of the sub with the riser coupling. The intrinsic safety barrier is configured to receive the first signal from the first sensor and transmit the first signal to a control system located remotely from the intrinsic safety barrier.

Systems and methods for sensing engagement in hazardous rated environments

A subsea wiring apparatus includes a housing having a cavity extending from a first end to a second end. The apparatus also includes an electrical connector arranged within the cavity, the electrical connector receiving at least one conductor. The apparatus further includes a separator extending at least partially into the cavity, wherein the separator receives the at least one conductor and directs the at least one conductor into a passage. The apparatus also includes an isolating material within the cavity, the isolating material extending from the first end to the second end, wherein the isolating material surrounds at least a portion of the conductor to block fluid communication with the conductor.

Systems and methods for subsea wiring splices

A subsea electronics module (SEM) is disclosed. The SEM includes a first axis and a second axis, the first axis being longer than the second axis. Electronic modules are mounted on at least one movable platform which is aligned to move in a direction of the first axis of the SEM. External electrical outlets are mounted on a body and along the first axis of the SEM. The external electrical outlets provide electronic coupling between the electronic modules and components of a lower marine riser package (LMRP).

Sliding subsea electronics module chassis

A plurality of PODs for a lower marine riser package (LMRP) is disclosed. At least a first subsea electronics module (SEM) and a second SEM are provided in a first POD of the plurality of PODs. At least a third SEM and a fourth SEM are provided in a second pod. The third SEM is redundant with the first SEM and the fourth SEM is redundant with the second SEM. At least one selector circuit is provided to transmit an SEM select signal that electrically activates or electrically deactivates the first SEM separately from the third SEM. As a result, each of the SEMs in the plurality of PODs may be separately activated or deactivated without a need to turn off fluid provided to hydraulic valves in the first and the second PODs that are controlled by corresponding SEMs.

Select mode subsea electronics module

A method for use in well drilling, development, completion, and production, including supplying hydraulic pressure to a tubing spider having at least one actuating component, generating position data from a position sensor based on the position of the actuating component, generating pressure data from a pressure sensor based on the pressure supplied to the spider, and automatically handling tubing with the spider by actuating the actuating component by adjusting pressure supplied to the spider based on the position data, the pressure data, and a prescribed control algorithm. The method may be implemented as part of a system including a tubing spider having at least one actuating component, sensors detecting hydraulic pressure supplied to the spider and the position of the actuating component, and a programmable logic controller capable of generating spider control data to control the spider based on data from the sensors and a prescribed control algorithm.

Systems and methods for automatically operating an electro-hydraulic spider

The present disclosure is to systems and methods for actuating pneumatic controls of reels electronically via a remote console, thus expanding remote control capabilities in a combination of hazardous and undesignated areas for oil and gas technologies. The method includes receiving, at a second control network from a first control network, electrical control signals for controlling pneumatic solenoids of a second control network. The second control network provides pneumatic signals to pneumatic valves, based at least in part on the control of the pneumatic solenoids. A controlling feature of the present disclosure is based at least in part on the pneumatic signals, to control, via the pneumatic valves, spooling movement of one or more reels comprising cables or feed lines, thereby spooling the cable or the feed lines.

Automated reel control console

A control system for a subsea blowout preventer (BOP) positioned in a lower stack, the lower stack releasably engaged with a lower marine riser package (LMRP). The control system includes a surface logic solver positioned at or adjacent the surface of the sea that generates commands for operating the subsea BOP, a first subsea logic solver attached to the LMRP and in communication with the surface logic solver so that the first subsea logic solver receives the commands from the surface logic solver, and a second subsea logic solver attached to a hydraulic control unit in the lower stack. The second subsea logic solver is in hydraulic communication with the subsea BOP, and the first subsea logic solver so that the second subsea logic solver receives the commands from the first subsea logic solver and implements the commands by activating the hydraulic control unit to operate the BOP.
