In an example of wireless communications, a transmitting station may set multiple network allocation vectors (NAVs) to reserve a communication medium for transmitting a frame in the amount of time indicated by the NAVs. A receiving station that receives a frame may identify which NAV is intended to be set by the receiving station. The receiving station may update a first type of NAV with duration information from the frame when the frame is received from a same wireless network, and update a second type of NAV with duration information from the frame when the frame is received from a different wireless network. The receiving station may ignore setting the NAV when the frame is received from the different wireless network. Alternatively, the receiving station may not ignore setting the NAV when the frame is received from the same wireless network. Other methods, apparatus, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

Network allocation vector types and transmission opportunity types for spatial reuse

An Access Point (AP) may allocate Resource Units (RUs) of a bandwidth of a Multi-User (MU) frame, including determining that an RU is not allocated to a station; determine a value of an RU Allocation Subfield according to the allocation of the RUs, the value of the RU Allocation Subfield indicating that the RU is not allocated; and generate a High Efficiency Signal B (HE-SIG-B) field including the RU Allocation Subfield in a common info field thereof. An AP may perform an MU transmission by transmitting a length to a station; determining identifiers each having the length; and transmitting an HE-SIG-B field including one of the identifiers to the station after transmitting the length. An AP may perform an MU transmission by allocating RUs and responding to receiving a frame from a station by transmitting a Multi-User Acknowledgement (MU-ACK) frame that includes information on the allocation of the RUs.

Systems, methods and devices for modifying relay operation of a wireless device are disclosed. In one aspect an apparatus for modifying relay operation of a wireless node comprises a processing system configured to generate a message requesting the wireless node to enable access point operation of the wireless node or instructing the wireless node to disable the access point operation of the wireless node. The message comprises a relay activation information element. The message comprises one or more of a field indicating a time for the wireless node to enable the access point operation or disable the access point operation and a field indicating whether the message is requesting the wireless node to enable the access point operation or instructing the wireless node to disable the access point operation.

Systems, methods and devices for modifying relay operation of a wireless device

Systems, methods, and devices for communicating data in a wireless communications network are described herein. One innovative aspect of the present disclosure includes a method of communicating in a wireless network. The method includes encrypting a message based, at least in part, on an original source address, and a final destination address. The method further includes transmitting the encrypted message to a relay for delivery to the final destination address.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus that may determine operation for speed frame exchange. According to certain aspects, a method for wireless communications by an apparatus is provided. The operations may be performed by a station, for example, by an access point initiating a speed frame exchange. The method generally includes indicating, via a value of at least one bit of a field of a frame of a sequence of frames being exchanged between the apparatus and a device, whether the apparatus is initiating a subsequent exchange of a sequence of frames, and transmitting the frame to the device.

Systems and methods for establishing associations on a wireless network, where the associations require a device to be available to the requesting device for a portion of time within a maximum time away period, are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes determining, by the apparatus, of a time period during which the access point can be accessible to the apparatus, the generating of a message identifying the time period, and the transmitting of the generated message to another apparatus.

Systems, methods, and devices for communicating data in a wireless communications network are described herein. In some aspects, a station includes a first receiver and a low power circuit including a second receiver. The second receiver may be configured to consume less power than the first receiver. The second receiver receives short paging messages from another wireless device, such as an access point. The paging messages may trigger transitions of the first receiver from inactive doze or sleep states to active awake states based on Traffic Information Maps. Once in the awake state, the first receiver receives messages. This enables the first receiver to reduce the time spent awake, thereby reducing power consumption. A system and method for identifying and managing paging modes is described herein.

A first device determines a maximum allowable interference, and transmits a packet including an indicator of the maximum allowable interference. The maximum allowable interference corresponds to an amount of interference that can be present at the first device without preventing proper reception, by the first device, of packets from a second device, or to an amount of interference that can be present at the first device without resulting in a reduction in a Modulation and Coding Scheme of communications between the first and second device. A secondary transmitting device receives an indication of a maximum allowable interference, determines a maximum transmission power according to the maximum allowable interference, and transmits packets during a NAV protection period at a transmission power less than or equal to the maximum transmission power, when the NAV protection period does not reserve the medium the secondary transmitting device.

The apparatus includes a receiver configured to receive a wake-up message that is a portion of a wake-up sequence. The period of time can exceed at least a transmission period of the wake-up sequence plus a transmission period of the wake-up message.
