A family of connectors to accommodate a single twisted pair of conductors is disclosed herein. The family of connectors includes a free connector, a fixed connector, and an adapter; the free and/or fixed connectors can be modified to accommodate the adapter configuration and/or modified to accommodate various patch cord configurations. In certain embodiments, the one or more of the family of connectors adopts an LC fiber optic style connector configuration and an LC fiber optic footprint configuration. In certain examples, one or more of the family of connectors adopts an LC fiber optic style connector configuration but in a footprint that is larger or smaller than the footprint of the LC fiber optic footprint. Other configurations may also be adopted.

Connectors for a single twisted pair of conductors

Communications connectors include a housing and a plurality of substantially rigid conductive pins that are mounted in the housing. The conductive pins are arranged as a plurality of differential pairs of conductive pins that each include a tip conductive pin and a ring conductive pin. Each conductive pin has a first end that is configured to be received within a respective socket of a mating connector and a second end. The tip conductive pin of each differential pair of conductive pins crosses over its associated ring conductive pin to form a plurality of tip-ring crossover locations.

Balanced pin and socket connectors

A family of connectors includes a plug, receptacle and adapter with the plug incorporating beam contacts, and the receptacle and adapter incorporating interfacing arched beam contacts. A z-configuration of the port(s) within the receptacle and adapter is configured to interface with the plug, which also presents a z-configuration. The parallel, upper and lower portions of the z-configuration of the plug incorporate the beam contacts. The first beam contact of the plug is rotated 180 degrees from the second beam contact of the plug; the arched beam contacts are similarly rotated. The plug, receptacle and adapter of a small form factor that is similar or identical to the formal factor of an optical fiber LC connector. The plug and receptacle can be configured for circuit board, cable or patch cord mounting. The plug and receptacle can be utilized in a multi-plug/multi-receptacle configuration.

An inline cable connector assembly connects one or more twisted pairs of wire leads of a first cable to one or more twisted pairs of wire leads to a second cable. The assembly includes first and second terminal housing parts, first and second wiring caps, and double ended insulation displacement contacts within the connector assembly.

Inline cable connector assembly and methods

Flexible fingers for flexible printed circuits improve the crack resistance of prior art designs. The crack resistance can be improved by encapsulating the trace inside additional layers such that the outer two layers include only the lands of the through-hole, and all other copper is etched away. The crack resistance can also be improved with strategically adding copper on layers other than the trace layer including attaching is to the land of the through-hole as a stub. These two designs can be combined to include a stub trace into a four-layered design.

An inline communications connector is provided that includes a housing and tip and ring contacts that are mounted in the housing. The tip contact includes an input tip socket, an output tip socket and a tip socket connection section that physically and electrically connects the input and output tip sockets. The ring contact includes an input ring socket, an output ring socket and a ring socket connection section that physically and electrically connects the input and output ring sockets. The input tip socket is not collinear with the output tip socket and the input ring socket is not collinear with the output ring socket.

High data rate connectors and cable assemblies that are suitable for harsh environments and related methods and systems

Patch cords include a communications cable that has a first conductor and a second conductor that form a first differential pair, and a third conductor and a fourth conductor that form a second differential pair and a plug that is attached to the communications cable. The plug includes a housing that receives the communications cable, first through fourth plug contacts that are within the housing, and a printed circuit board. The printed circuit board includes first through fourth conductive paths that connect the respective first through fourth conductors to respective ones of the first through fourth plug contacts. The plug further includes a first conductive shield that extends above a top surface of the printed circuit board that is disposed between the first differential pair and the second differential pair.

A communication jack has a housing with a printed circuit board mounted partially within the housing, a plurality of jackwire contacts mounted on the printed circuit board and a flexible printed circuit board mounted on at least two of the jackwire contacts, wherein the flexible printed circuit board includes a crosstalk compensation circuit and has at least one fold and/or slit.

Patch cords include a communications cable that has first through eighth conductors that are arranged as four twisted pairs and a plug attached thereto. The plug includes a housing that receives the cable, first through eighth plug contacts, and a printed circuit board that includes first through eighth conductive paths that connect the first through eighth conductors to the respective first through eighth plug contacts. The plug further includes a first crosstalk injection circuit between the second conductive path and the sixth conductive path and a second crosstalk injection circuit between the first conductive path and the sixth conductive path.

Communications plugs and patch cords with mode conversion control circuitry

Patch cords are provided that include a communications cable that has at least first through fourth conductors and a plug that is attached to the cable. The plug includes a housing that receives the cable, a printed circuit board, first through fourth plug contacts, and first through fourth conductive paths that connect the first through fourth conductors to the respective first through fourth plug contacts. The first and second conductors, conductive paths, and plug contacts form a first differential transmission line, and the third and fourth conductors, conductive paths, and plug contacts form a second differential transmission line. Each of the first through fourth plug contacts has a first segment that extends longitudinally along a first surface of the printed circuit board, and the signal current injection point into the first segment of at least some of the first through fourth plug contacts is into middle portions of their respective first segments.

Communications jacks include a housing having a plug aperture that is configured to receive a mating RJ-45 plug along a longitudinal axis and eight jackwire contacts that are arranged as four differential pairs of jackwire contacts, each of the jackwire contacts including a plug contact region that extends into the plug aperture. A first of the jackwire contacts is configured to engage a longitudinally extending surface of a first blade of a mating RJ-45 plug when the mating RJ-45 plug is fully received within the plug aperture.
