Methods, systems, and machine-readable mediums utilizing context information to create decoding feedback information to improve decoder accuracy and/or performance. In some examples, the context information is from layers of a network stack above the layers in which the decoders are present. The context information may be or be based upon information about previously received and decoded data and/or information about the sender to provide decoding feedback information to the decoder that is used either to correct a previous decoding error or to inform the decoder on which of a plurality of decoding choices is more likely to be correct. This may increase decoding performance by decreasing errors and in some examples, reducing the complexity of choices by eliminating certain decoding possibilities and thus increasing decoder efficiency.

Predictive context-based decoder correction

This disclosure relates to managing user presence in a unified communications system. A method is provided where a computing device establishes a wireless connection with a peripheral device. The computing device has a native dialer application and a unified communications client (UCC) application. A communication session is initiated via the native dialer, utilizing the peripheral device. The native dialer updates a device profile for the peripheral device with state information reflecting active engagement. The UCC application obtains this state information and updates the user's presence status to indicate current engagement in the communication session. The UCC application may communicate the user's presence status to a cloud-based service, allowing proper handling of incoming communication requests. The method ensures accurate reflection of user availability across multiple devices and applications, enhancing the communication experience within a unified communications environment.

Communications management leveraging status information from shared resources

Methods, machine-readable mediums, devices, and systems for joining a participant to a meeting in a modified join mode. A join mode comprises one or more configurable operational parameters within an network-based communication service that specifies the manner in which a participant is integrated into a network-based real-time interactive communication session such as a network-based meeting. Specifically, the join mode encompasses various privacy and visibility options that can be applied when a participant enters the meeting. One such option includes a presence concealment feature that, when activated, hides the joining participant's presence from one participant, one or more specific participants, or all participants within the meeting.

The techniques disclosed herein provide enhanced security features for controlling access to shared content and private content of a document. A system can enable multiple users to access a common content file, such as a Word document. Each user can add additional private content unique to each individual user. Private content associated with a particular user is restricted from being shared with any other user. Thus, when a first user opens a file authored and/or owned by other users stored in a cloud storage service, the system allows that first user to see the common content that is shared by the other users plus private content that is unique to the first user, but not allow the first user to view other private content provided by the other users.

The sidebar thread may also include sidebar thread messages that carries the conversation of the sidebar thread participants. Once a termination condition is reached for the sidebar thread, the sidebar thread terminates and either the proposed principal thread message (as potentially modified by participants of the sidebar thread) becomes an accepted principal thread message and it is posted to the principal thread as if it was sent by the sidebar initiator or no message is posted (e.g., the proposed principal thread message is rejected). In some examples, users may select a fork point and a return point from the principal thread.

Disclosed in some examples are methods, systems, and machine-readable mediums which automatically initiate a connection to a network-based communication session using a second communication application responsive to the communication service detecting that the user is unable to join the network-based communication session using a first communication application. The first and second communication applications may be on a same or different computing device. For example, if a user's desktop device is unavailable or experiencing connection issues, then the communication server may automatically request that a communication application on a mobile phone of the user join the network-based communication session.

Disclosed in some examples are methods, systems, and machine-readable mediums in which interference is mitigated on a wireless radio frequency channel used by multiple computing devices by adjusting (e.g., lowering) the power level of one or more computing devices (e.g., mobile devices such as User Equipment (UE) devices) and using successive interference cancellation to decode the combined signals. Successive interference cancellation may first decode a strongest signal of a combined signal of all computing devices. The decoded signal is then subtracted from the combined signal. The strongest signal of that combined signal is then decoded and then subtracted and so on until all signals are decoded.

A system provides permission controls for group messages. A system can support user accessibility by the use of a permissions that indicates that a user has accessibility needs with respect to a voice input. When a user is known to have accessibility issue with providing a voice input, a system data structure, such as a Teams directory, can indicate when specific users have special needs. The system can grant them with rights to prevent others from providing messages to a message thread. This allows that person to become a presenter of a meeting while using a message thread to give their presentation without interruption from others. The system can unlock the thread and allow others to provide messages when the user is done with their presentation. By controlling a message thread in this manner, a system can allow users having special needs to participate as a meeting presenter.

Systems and methods for conducting a videoconference including receiving multimedia streams of a plurality of participants in a multimedia conference, the multimedia streams including audio components and video components and displaying video tiles of the participants on a display screen. The audio components and/or the video components of the multimedia streams are analyzed to detect characteristics indicative of a first participant and a second participant having a first conversation with each other. Camera positions on the computing devices of the participants are identified. In response to identifying that the first participant and the second participant are having the first conversation with each other, a video tile for the first participant and a video tile for the second participant are moved to edges of the respective display screens toward the camera positions.

Disclosed in some examples are methods, systems and machine-readable mediums which allow for more secure authentication attempts by implementing authentication systems with credentials that include interspersed noise symbols in positions determined by the user. These systems secure against eavesdroppers such as shoulder-surfers or man-in-the middle attacks as it is difficult for an eavesdropper to separate the noise symbols from legitimate credential symbols.

A system that can coordinate user interface formats having customized threads comprising messages from a common thread. Each client device can be managed by a data structure that defines thread containers, where individual thread containers define threads and topics for each thread. Each thread can also be associated with unique groups of messages. The data structure can cause each client computer to display different user interface formats, with each format showing different threads for each user. Individual devices can control displayed threads according to a topic limit so that displayed messages can be limited for optimizing the use of a display screen and other computing resources. The system provides more granular control of user interface formats to allow users to separate messages of high-priority topics.
