The present invention describes electronic devices and compositions that can be used in electronic devices, the electronic devices including a sensitizer and a fluorescent emitter, wherein the sensitizer is a phosphorescent compound and wherein at least one of the two following conditions (I) or (II) must be satisfied, it being preferable when condition (I) is satisfied:(FE)−()≥  (I)(FE)−()≤  (II)wherein, e.g., X, Y are each −0.5 eV; S(FE) is the energy of the first excited singlet state of the fluorescent emitter; S(S) is the energy of the first excited state of the sensitizer; S(FE) is the energy of the first excited singlet state of the fluorescent emitter; S(S) is the energy of the first excited state of the sensitizer; and wherein the photoluminescence spectra of the sensitizer and of the fluorescent emitter are determined at room temperature.

Electroluminescent devices having sensitizer and fluorescent emitter

A composition containing at least one sensitizer and at least one fluorescent emitter, wherein the sensitizer is a phosphorescent compound and wherein the fluorescent emitter is a sterically shielded compound having a shielding factor (SF) of not less than 0.45. In addition, the invention is to a fluorescent electronic device containing a sensitizer and a fluorescent emitter, wherein the sensitizer is a phosphorescent compound and wherein the fluorescent emitter is a sterically shielded compound.

The invention relates to compounds of formula (1) which are suitable for use in electronic devices, and to electronic devices, in particular organic electroluminescent devices, containing said compounds. X is, identically or differently in each occurrence, CR or N, or two adjacent X stand for a group of the following formula (2), wherein the dashed bonds mark the bonding of said group in formula (1), with the stipulation that the compound of formula (1) contains one or two groups of formula (2); Xis, identically or differently in each occurrence, CR or N; Y is, identically or differently in each occurrence, CR or N; Z, Z, Zare, identically or differently in each occurrence, O, S, N—Ar or CR.
