A roof attachment system and method for connecting a composite molded roof to a vehicle body structure, having a plurality of mounting members that each create a C-like section part that is shaped to match the inside surface of the composite Class A roof. The mounting member is bonded to the roof panel with adhesive. The roof is aligned with key features to locate the roof within an opening, where the mounting member is then also bonded to the body structure with adhesive.

In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a locating pin and a retention clip. The locating pin and the retention clip allow alignment of the front end module with the body structure and the retention clip secures the two assemblies in place which allows alignment of fastener holes. This conserves time in the assembly line and allows more accurate and rapid assembly of the front end module on the body structure reducing the time necessary for assembly.

Locator assembly

An automotive vehicle is provided which includes a structural member, a bumper movable with respect to the structural member upon an impact of said vehicle with an object, and a radiator for cooling fluid of a component of the vehicle, the radiator being mounted with the structural member. Movement of the bumper within predetermined limits causes the radiator to be dismounted with respect to said structural member minimizing material damage to the radiator.

Front end module with breakaway radiator

A structural joint for a vehicle is provided that includes a first tubular beam with forward and rear faces extending in a non-fore and aft direction. A bracket has a first leg abutting the first beam's forward face and a second leg transverse to the forward and rearward faces. The bracket has a third leg extending generally outward from the second leg. A mound is connected with the bracket and extending outwardly from the bracket's third leg provides a presentation surface spaced away from the bracket third leg. A second tubular beam has an end with a generally inverted U-shaped rear face with a central portion that abuts the mound. The second beam rear face also has vertical end portions abutting the bracket third leg. The second tubular beam has a front face which is spaced from the bracket third leg. Threaded fasteners connect the bracket and the second tubular beam together. The above noted arrangement causes the first and second beam to be joined in a very strong joint wherein the stress is experienced by the beams along their forward and rearward faces are generally communicated with one another in a manner akin to that of a bent corner of a single hydro-formed beam.
