An acoustically registerable probe includes a transducer () to generate acoustic pulses, and a beamformer () coupled to the transducer to adjust a field of view of the acoustic pulses. The transducer is configured to iteratively send and receive acoustic energy with a decremented field of view angles to identify a position of the transducer () to other transducers and to reveal positions of the other transducers to the transducer through a medium carrying the acoustic pulses to register the transducer to the other transducers coupled to the medium.

Acoustic registration of internal and external ultrasound probes

A system for localizing a three-dimensional field of view of a beamforming ultrasound imaging probe based on a position indicator disposed within said field of view. The beamforming ultrasound imaging probe transmits and receives ultrasound signals within a three-dimensional field of view comprising a plurality of predetermined sub-volumes, each sub-volume being defined by a two dimensional array of beams. A controller causes the beamforming ultrasound imaging probe to scan the sub-volumes sequentially by transmitting and receiving ultrasound signals corresponding to each beam. A tracking system determines a position of the position indicator within the three-dimensional field of view; and determines a sub-volume in which the position indicator is located. The controller causes the beamforming ultrasound imaging probe to provide a localized field of view including the position of the position indicator by constraining the transmitting and receiving of ultrasound signals to a portion of the sub-volume in which the position indicator is located.

The following relates generally to systems and methods of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) automation. Some aspects relate to a TEE probe with ultrasonic transducers on a distal end of the TEE probe. In some implementations, if a target is in a field of view (FOV) of the ultrasonic transducers, an electronic beam steering of the probe is adjusted; if the target is at an edge of the FOV, both the electronic beam steering and mechanical joints of the probe are adjusted; and if the target is not in the FOV, only the mechanical joints of the probe are adjusted.

Passive-ultrasound-sensor-based initialization for image-based device segmentation

A controller for reducing noise in an ultrasound environment includes memory that stores instructions; and a processor that executes the instructions. When executed by the processor, the instructions cause the controller to execute a process that includes controlling emission, by an ultrasound probe, of multiple beams each at a different combination of time of emission and angle of emission relative to the ultrasound probe. The process also includes identifying repetitive noise from a first source received with the imaging beams at a sensor on an interventional medical device, including a rate at which the repetitive noise from the first source repeats and times at which the repetitive noise from the first source is received. The process also includes interpolating signals based on the imaging beams received at the sensor to offset the repetitive noise from the first source at the times at which the repetitive noise from the first source is received.

Noise reduction for ultrasound operations

A controller for maintaining alignment of X-Ray imagery and ultrasound imagery includes a memory that stores instructions, and a processor that executes the instructions. When executed by the processor, the instructions cause the controller to execute a process that includes receiving data from an X-Ray system used to perform X-Ray imaging, and receiving data from an ultrasound imaging probe used to perform ultrasound imaging. The process also includes determining a shape of the interventional medical device, based on a response to the tracking beams received over the period of time from a first sensor that moves along the interventional medical device during the period of time relative to a fixed location on the interventional medical device for the period of time.

Sensor-based shape identification

A tool navigation system employing an ultrasound probe, an ultrasound scanner, an interventional tool, a tool tracker and an image navigator. In operation, the ultrasound probe generates an acoustic image plane for scanning an anatomical region, and the ultrasound scanner generates an ultrasound image of the anatomical region from a scan of the anatomical region.
