There is described a device which develops an attractive and toxic action for combatting insects, consisting of a substrate of fibers and/or fibrils containing, either in an adsorbed or dispersed form, a pheromone, and which is partially coated with a layer impermeable to the phermone, the layer carrying, adhering to its external surface, an insecticide or a substrate impregnated with an insecticide.

Mixtures containing (Z)-5-dodecenyl-acetate optionally combined with other compounds are shown to have a high attracting power for the male insects of the species Cossus cossus. Said mixtures may be employed in traps both for a monitoring action on the population density in a certain area and for mass-captures, or they may be employed for permeating the air in a certain zone, thus preventing the insects from mating.

Sexual attracting mixtures for Cossus cossus (Lepidoptera)

A slow release formulation of sex pheromones of insects consisting of aldehydes, is herein described. The formulation consists of the bisulphite adduct of the aldehyde and a buffer having a pH value in the range from 2 to 10. The formulations herein described are employable for attracting and catching the insects in traps or for permeating the air in an infested area, in this way disturbing and preventing copulation.

Slow release formulations of pheromones consisting of aldehydes

There are disclosed solid formulations containing, as an active substance, a sex pheromone; as main vehicles, a carrier having absorbing properties and another carrier having adsorbing properties, and, furthermore, a wetting agent, a dispersant, a sticker, an ultraviolet (U.V.) stabilizer, an antioxidant and, optionally, a film-forming resin. Such formulations are utilized to control insects. In particular, the disclosed formulations contain, as an active substance, a sex pheromone of insects and, as a main vehicle, a mixture composed of a carrier having absorbing properties, and of another carrier having adsorbing properties, and are utilized to prevent insects from mating (mating disruption).

Solid formulations containing pheromones and method of using same

There are disclosed solid formulations having, as an active substance, a sex pheromone, more particularly a sex pheromone of insect, supported by an inert carrier coated with a film-generating resin, and as components: a wetting agent, a dispersant, a sticker, an ultraviolet stabilizer and an antioxidant. Said formulations are used to control insects by hindering mating of the insects (mating disruption).

There is provided a trap for capturing insects, the trap containing a sticky glue and an attracting substance and consisting of two rectangular plates of paperboard or other suitable foldable material, the plates being arranged in the shape of overlapping bent tiles with facing concavities and placed transversely to each other, so as to form four openings along the four different sides of the rectangular plates.
