A wireless network device comprises a wireless signal driver, an application-driver framework that includes a bidirectional interface and an application interface. The application-driver framework is configured for application-agnostic and driver-agnostic communication. The bidirectional interface communicatively couples the wireless signal driver to the application-driver framework. The bidirectional interface includes an abstraction layer via which driver-agnostic command signals and driver-agnostic event signals are communicated with the application-driver framework and via which driver-specific command signals and driver-specific event signals are communicated with the wireless signal driver. The application interface is configured to interface with applications and with the application-driver framework. The application interface is configured to communicate application-agnostic command signals and application-agnostic event signals with the application-driver framework and to communicate application-specific event signals and application-specific command signals with the one or more applications and the application-driver framework.

A dynamic data transmission adjustment method in a wireless communication system. The system includes a base station and a user equipment. The base station and the user equipment communicate amongst themselves by using a first transmission technique. The method includes transmitting a plurality of frames between the base station and the user equipment using a regular transmission scheme according to the first transmission technique, and at least one iteration of the following steps: calculating a specific error rate in at least one specific region of the transmitted frames; and adjusting the regular transmission scheme when a value representative of the specific error rate associated to the specific region exceeds a predetermined threshold.

Dynamic data transmission adjustment method

A method and apparatus are provided for radio access technology (RAT) monitoring, in a wireless system environment having wireless communications equipment and at least two different RATs that coexist for providing to the equipment access to one or more communications networks. The equipment has at least two subsystems, each adapted for establishing and maintaining an active communications connection with a certain one of the different RATs. The equipment selects at least a first RAT, among all the RATs available in a certain geographical area, for establishing the active communications connection, according to a monitored characteristic of the first RAT. The method includes scanning a characteristic of a second RAT available for communication in the geographical area while the equipment maintains an active communications connection with the first RAT, and performing the scanning step when the equipment does not transmit signals through the active communications connection maintained with the first RAT.

Method and system for radio access technology monitoring in a wireless communications system

The invention performs frequency estimation over both the burst preamble, during which known symbols are transmitted, and also during the burst's data packet, which is subsequent to the preamble and extracted by the local detector. During the preamble, an initial frequency estimate is obtained. This estimate is based on a time average of either phase or correlation samples. Atypical phase or correlation samples, attributable to detector symbol errors during the data packet, are detected and filtered, so as to avoid including the atypical samples in a time-averages used to provide the frequency estimate. In a first embodiment correlation samples are time averaged, and atypical correlation samples are suppressed prior to correlation time averaging. In a second embodiment, phase slope values are time averaged, and atypical values of phase slope are suppressed prior to phase slope time averaging.

Precise frequency estimation of short data bursts

The invention provides a device (D) for reducing ingress noise in a digital signal, comprising a noise predictor () for predicting an amount of ingress noise in the digital signal (s) based on past samples of the ingress noise, and a subtractor () for subtracting the predicted amount of ingress noise from the digital signal.
