A raster output scanner (ROS) with a liquid crystal window located at the output of the ROS for correcting the nonuniformity of a light beam generated by the ROS is disclosed. Since the photocells in the liquid crystal can be controlled individually, a variable attenuation to match the curve of the intensity of the light beam, generated by the ROS, can be applied to the light beam. When the light beam with a variable intensity passes through the liquid crystal window of this invention, each cell applies an attenuation to offset the variation in intensity of the light received by that cell. Therefore, the light beam emerging from the liquid crystal window will have a uniform intensity regardless of the variation of the intensity generated by the ROS.

Scan uniformity correction

A bonding system with interferometric inspection for real time planarity feedback and control is used to bond two substrates at atmospheric pressure. The interferometric vision system includes a crt monitor display to display the relative planarity between two objects to be bonded. If the planarity is not sufficient, the operator, based on the information displayed, may make infitesimal adjustments to the bonding system to improve the planarity. After the desirable planarity is achieved, a heat system is activated to further facilitate bonding.

Gold to gold substrate bonding system utilizing interferometric

A raster scanning system is disclosed which utilizes a rotating prism for facet tracking. The rotating prism has a plurality of facets and each facet is parallel to an opposite facet. A light beam enters through one facet of the rotating prism and exits the corresponding parallel facet. The light beam passing through the rotating prism deflects and since the the prism rotates the light beam also shifts. The prism shifts the light beam in such a manner to keep the beam at the center of a mirror facet of a rotating polygon mirror.
