Locating a mobile device in the event of an emergency may be based on common location techniques, such as GPS and geolocation. Additional location techniques may be performed in a sample method of operation which may include determining location information and environmental factor information at a mobile device, recording the location information and the environmental factor information, calculating deviations for the location information and the environmental factor information based on pre-stored location information and pre-stored environmental information, and calculating a confidence factor based on the calculated deviations, determining the mobile device location based on the confidence factor.

A communication system facilitates a voice communication session for a wireless communication device. A Long Term Evolution (LTE) network exchanges Voice over LTE (VoLTE) communications with the wireless communication device for the voice communication session and determines LTE packet loss metrics for the voice communication session. The LTE network transfers the voice communication session to a Wireless Fidelity (WIFI) network. The WIFI network exchanges Voice over WIFI (VoWIFI) communications with the wireless communication device for the voice communication session and determines WIFI packet loss metrics for the voice communication session. A network controller compares the LTE packet loss metrics with the WIFI packet loss metrics to determine a packet loss configuration for the WIFI network. The network controller transfers a packet loss instruction to the WIFI network. The WIFI network receives the packet loss instruction and responsively implements the packet loss configuration on the voice communication session.

Wireless communication system to optimize device performance across wireless communication networks

Different residences can be communicatively linked to a communication backbone via a multi-access gateway, where each residence comprises an adapter through which a set of IP devices directly connect to the multi-access gateway via IPSec compliant communication channels. The multi-access gateway can connect each of the IP devices to remotely located resources. Telecommunication services can be provided to the IP devices in the residences for fees. The multi-access gateway can controls specifics of the telecommunication services, which can include emergency (e.g., 911) services, home control services, and residential administration services. Any of the telecommunication services can be initiated, modified, or terminated by a carrier maintaining the multi-access gateway on a per residence basis for any of the different residences.

The wireless communication transceiver is configured to exchange VoLTE packets with a wireless communication device during a VoLTE communication session, and receive a scheduling request and responsively issue a scheduling grant with a number of hybrid automatic repeat requests (HARQs). The processing system is configured to calculate a quality of service (QoS) score based on a communication quality of the VoLTE communication session after issuing the scheduling grant, and if the QoS score falls below a threshold value, apply a lower level of fragmentation to the VoLTE packets.

An Internet Protocol (IP) router provides location information for an emergency communication session. The IP router receives a base station identifier associated with a request for the emergency communication session. The IP router selects a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) based on the base station identifier. The IP router determines a PSAP type and a network type for the selected PSAP. The IP router transfers a location request for delivery to a location control system and receives location information transferred from the location control system. The IP router converts the location information into PSAP signaling used by the selected PSAP based on the PSAP and network type. The IP router transfers the converted location information for delivery to the selected PSAP.

The first wireless communication network determines first performance metrics. Communication is transferred to a second wireless communication network. The second wireless communication network determines second performance metrics. A control processing system compares the first performance metrics with the second performance metrics to determine configuration instructions for the second wireless communication network, and transfers the configuration instructions to the second wireless communication network. The second wireless communication network modifies a network configuration based on the configuration instructions and determines third performance metrics. The control processing system compares the first performance metrics with the third performance metrics to determine a user notice related to session quality on the second wireless communication network. The control processing system transfers the user notice to the wireless communication device.

A system and method for tracking a wireless communications device of a user may include, in response to receiving a request to track the wireless communications device, notifying a plurality of wireless networks of different communications carriers to collect geographic coordinates at which a wireless communications device is located. Geographic coordinates of the wireless communications device may be collected from at least one of the wireless networks and communicated to a requestor for tracking the wireless communications device.

System and method for providing multi-carrier tracking of wireless devices during an emergency

A method for providing a trusted communication link in a wireless network. A mobility management entity (MME) interface of a MME virtualized network function (VNF) receives a trusted communication request. A MME interface trustlet is allocated to execute in a trusted security zone of compute resources provided by a virtual computing environment in which the MME VNF executes. The MME interface trustlet establishes trusted signaling with two or more different VNFs provided by virtual servers executing in the virtual computing environment. The MME interface trustlet sends a trust token to the eNB to establish the trusted communication link from the eNB via a virtualized network function path through the virtual computing environment.

A wireless communications device and method for establishing a voltage threshold at which to turn off electronics of a wireless communications device includes determining a power threshold level at which a device is to be shut off when a battery of the device reaches or drops below the power threshold level. The determined power threshold level may be offset. The amount of power remaining for the battery in the communications device may be measured. The communication device may be shut off based on the offset power threshold level so as to preserve enough power for an emergency message to be generated and sent in the case of an emergency.
