A method for curing antenna violations on an integrated circuit that includes multiple levels includes: obtaining a design of a circuit, the design including a first element connected to first device and a second element connected to one or more second devices, wherein the first and second elements both receive a common signal; determining that an antenna violation exists in on the first element at a first level of the multiple levels; and modifying the design of the circuit to add a connected between the first element and the second element at the first layer or at a layer below the first layer.

Method to cure antenna violations in clock network using jumpers

Aspects of the invention include methods, systems, and computer program products for integrated circuit development using cross-hierarchy antenna condition verification. A method includes obtaining a design of a hierarchical macro distributed between multiple files for an integrated circuit and analyzing, by a design verification tool, a route between at least one child macro and at least one pin of the hierarchical macro as defined in the files. The method further includes determining, by the design verification tool, a plurality of connection characteristics of the at least one child macro and the at least one pin forming the route and calculating, by the design verification tool, an antenna condition for the route based on the connection characteristics. The design of the hierarchical macro is adjusted to remove a violation of an antenna rule based on determining that the antenna condition of the route violates the antenna rule.

Cross-hierarchy antenna condition verification

Embodiments include predictive antenna diode insertion. Aspects of the invention include obtaining a design of a macro, the design including an internal pin disposed on a first layer of the macro. Aspects of the invention also include determining a length of a wire needed to connect the internal pin to a furthest edge of the macro for each of two layers above the layer the internal pin. Aspects of the invention further include adding, to the design of the macro, an antenna diode to the internal pin based on the determination that an area of the wire needed exceeds a threshold value, wherein the area of the wire is based on the length and a width of the wire.

Predictive antenna diode insertion

Embodiments of the invention include protecting against antenna violations in a macro having a clock mesh. Aspects include obtaining a design of the macro, the design including a clock layer having a plurality of clock pins and determining a longest vertical wire and a longest horizontal wire allowed based on a design of the clock mesh. Aspects also include identifying, based at least in part on the longest vertical wire and the longest horizontal wire, a plurality of checkbox regions for a clock pin of the plurality of clock pins and calculating a total diffusion area for each of the plurality of checkbox regions. Aspects further include adding, to the design of the macro, an antenna diode to the clock pin based on a determination that the total diffusion area for any of the plurality of checkbox regions is less than a threshold value.

Predictive antenna diode insertion in a macro having a clock mesh

Embodiments of the disclosure relate to methods for facilitating the design of a clock grid in an integrated circuit. The method includes propagating a chip level virtual grid across a multi-level hierarchy of the integrated circuit and customizing the grid at each macro to create a customized virtual grid for each macro. The method further includes propagating the customized virtual grid for each of the plurality of macros to one of a plurality of units and customizing the chip level virtual grid at each of the plurality of units to create the customized virtual grid for each of the plurality of units. The method also includes propagating the customized virtual grid for each of the plurality of units to the chip level and combining the plurality of customized virtual grids to form the clock grid for the integrated circuit.
