Emergency backup power systems for supplying emergency backup power for communication in a fully discharged fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), and methods of use, are provided. The emergency backup power system may comprise a first wastewater reservoir configured to store wastewater from a fuel cell state, a second wastewater reservoir configured to store wastewater from one or more water-activated fuel cells, an activation valve configured to enable water to flow from the second wastewater reservoir to the one or more water-activated fuel cells, an actuator configured to open the activation valve, the one or more water-activated fuel cells, a location tracking system configured to determine geographic coordinates of a FCEV, and an emergency communication module, comprising a processor, configured to transmit an emergency communication message for the FCEV.

Backup power supply for emergency communication in a fully discharged fuel cell electric vehicle

Provided is a system for deploying a container from a vehicle. The system includes a container; a reservoir configured to store a substance to be dispensed to the container; and a deployment device configured to transition the container between a deployed position and a retracted position. In the deployed position, the container is placed external to the vehicle, and in the retracted position, the container is placed internal to the vehicle. The system may further include a dispensing device connected to the reservoir and configured to dispense the substance from the reservoir to the container. Preferably, the vehicle is a fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) including a fuel cell stack, and the substance includes wastewater exhaust form the fuel cell stack.

A fully automated, integrated, end-to-end synchronized and compact manufacturing system produces polymer or metal case ammunition. Manufacturing stations support case assembly, sealing (gluing/welding), final product inspection, cartridge packaging or binning, and loading. Station modularity facilitates rapid changeover to accommodate ammunition of differing calibers. Sensors and apparatus may be provided to place a manufacturing cell in a wait state until all components or materials are received in a preferred orientation for proper assembly. Elevator feeders, vibratory bowl feeders, and robotic pick-and-place feeders may be used to deliver components for assembly.

A method can be used for automatic lateral repositioning of a child safety seat on a back seat of a motor vehicle. The child safety seat is configured to move laterally across the back seat between lateral sides of the motor vehicle. The method includes determining the lateral position of the child safety seat on the back seat of the motor vehicle, determining a current or intended parking situation of the motor vehicle, deciding which lateral side of the motor vehicle is a preferred access side for the determined parking situation, and laterally repositioning the child safety seat to a preferred position at the preferred access side of the motor vehicle.

An automated collision mitigation system of a vehicle includes a vehicle controller, a free space monitor unit, a rear collision monitor unit, a communicator, a drivetrain system and a braking system. The free space monitor unit detects a free space in front of a host vehicle and the rear collision monitor unit detect parameters of a remote vehicle located rearwardly of the host vehicle. The communicator sends and receives signal from the other vehicles or infrastructures by V2V or V2I wireless network. The vehicle controller evaluates an accelerating time of the host vehicle and a time-to-collision of the rear remote vehicle. In addition, the vehicle controller determines to activate the drivetrain system or the braking system of the host vehicle.

In particular, the method includes receiving a user selection at an input device and detecting a mode type associated with the user selection. A method includes: establishing a dynamic target temperature range for a seat of a vehicle having a seat heating unit installed therein, the dynamic target temperature range defined by an adjustable minimum and maximum target temperature; activating a seat heating mode of multiple predefined seat heating modes based on an interior climate of the vehicle; defining the minimum target temperature and the maximum target temperature according to the activated seat heating mode; and controlling the seat heating unit such that a temperature of the seat continuously oscillates within the defined minimum target temperature and the defined maximum target temperature.

A method includes: receiving an indication of a destination from a user; determining a route from a current position of a vehicle to the destination; projecting an image of the determined route from the current position of the vehicle to the destination onto ground nearby the vehicle using a projection device equipped in the vehicle; and rotating the projected image such that the projected image is oriented in accordance with the determined route.

A seat device for a vehicle includes: a seat cushion and a seat base of a rear row seat, the seat base mounted on a floor of a vehicle standing upward from the floor and forming a support structure of the seat cushion; a movable cushion portion forming a sitting surface for a passenger; a seat-cushion-moving mechanism to rotate and translate the movable cushion portion so that the movable cushion portion moves between a seating position, an extended position, and a tray position. In particular, a passenger sits on the movable cushion portion in the seating position, the movable cushion portion rotates away from the seat base in the forward direction to expose a lower side of the movable cushion portion in the extended position, and the tray position is obtained when the movable cushion portion translates rearwardly from the extended position with the lower side remaining exposed.

A method includes: establishing a wireless communication session with a mobile device of a user and a vehicle control unit equipped in a vehicle; receiving a sequence of vehicle light control signals transmitted from the mobile device defining activation periods during which a vehicle light of the vehicle is to be activated alternating with deactivation periods during which the vehicle light is to be deactivated; and controlling the vehicle light in synchronization with the sequence of vehicle light control signals while the sequence of vehicle light control signals is being received. The controlling of the vehicle light includes: continuously transmitting activation signals to the vehicle control unit to activate the vehicle light during each of the activation periods; and refraining from transmitting the activation signals to the vehicle control unit to deactivate the vehicle light during each of the deactivation periods.

A method includes: projecting, using a projection device equipped on a vehicle, an image onto ground nearby the vehicle; detecting a position or a point of view of a user; and rotating the projected image or at least one object within the projected image based on the detected position or point of view of the user. The projected image or the at least one object within the projected image is rotated such that the projected image or the at least one object within the projected image is oriented to face the user.

A method includes: receiving an indication of a destination from a user; determining a route from a current position of a vehicle to the destination; detecting whether the user has exited the vehicle; and projecting an image of the route from the current position of the vehicle to the destination onto ground nearby the vehicle using a projection device equipped in the vehicle, such that the projected image is viewable by the user upon exiting the vehicle, in response to detecting that the user has exited the vehicle.

Rapid-Prototyped Panels, or RP-Panels, replicate existing systems (for simulation, training, gaming, etc.) or from new designs (for human factors testing, as functional product, etc.). The controls have tactile and visual characteristics similar or identical to their functional component counterparts such as buttons, knobs, switches, pedals, joysticks, steering wheels, and touch panels but are modular and use alternative data transfer modes (potentiometers, fiber optics, RFID, machine vision, etc.) to track and analyze the response of the controls. The response is then transmitted to the host programs. With this method a user can design and fabricate a reconfigurable interface to interact with virtual environments for various applications such as simulation, training, virtual instrumentation, gaming, human factors testing, etc.
