Mobility management in multi-tier wireless communication networks involves communicating signaling that includes tier activation information for controlling activation of a UE for operation with a network device of a first tier and a network device of a second tier. The multi-tier wireless communication network includes network devices distributed among multiple tiers, and the multiple tiers include a terrestrial tier and a non-terrestrial tier.

Mobility management in multi-tier wireless communication networks

Embodiments of the present application pertain to control information for scheduling a transmission resource for downlink and uplink communications between one or more TRP and one or more UE. One Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) for DL control information transmission is assumed to carry at least one assignment or scheduling information block for at least one Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) for DL data transmission or for at least one Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) for UL data transmission. Embodiments of the present application provide methods of providing configuration information that can be used by a user equipment (UE) to determine transmission mode for the PDSCH and PUSCH as well as information to determine where to monitor for the PDSCH, PUSCH and PUCCH information.

Method and devices for multiple transmit receive point cooperation for reliable communication

An integrated terrestrial/non-terrestrial network may allow for enhanced network coverage. However, there are control and management challenges associated with an integrated terrestrial/non-terrestrial network because the network and user equipments (UEs) are no longer confined to only using conventional cellular communication via terrestrial transmit-and-receive points (T-TRPs). One challenge is how to perform beam management. In some embodiments, methods and systems are disclosed in which an indication of angular direction (e.g. beam direction) is provided by the T-TRP. The indication of angular direction may be used by a UE for communicating with a non-terrestrial TRP (NT-TRP), e.g. using beamforming. However, the methods are not limited to integrated terrestrial/non-terrestrial networks or the involvement of NT-TRPs, but apply more generally to indicating angular direction for directional communication.

Systems and methods for angular direction indication in wireless communication

Aspects of the present disclosure propose solutions to a problem of mobility interruption during handover between base stations by providing a UE with mechanisms to report the UE capability for simultaneous connectivity based handover, or so-called Dual Active Protocol Stack Handover (DAPS-HO). A UE reports the DAPS-HO capability of the UE to the network and then the base station initiates physical layer procedures to carry out DAPS-HO in accordance with the DAPS-HO capability reported by the UE. Aspects of the present disclosure also provide examples of signaling that may be used by the UE for reporting DAPS-HO capability to the network and the physical layer procedures that the UE may follow in accordance with the configuration that the network provides to the UE, which should be in accordance with the UE's capability.

Methods and devices are provided that use lower-layer signalling, for example Layer 1 (L1) and/or Layer 2 (L2), as a part of mobility beam management. A method for performing inter-cell mobility management may include receiving, by a user equipment (UE) from a network, higher-layer signaling that includes configuration information for a plurality of mobility beam management reference signals (MBM-RSs) enabling the UE to measure MBM-RSs transmitted by at least one base station in the network. Methods and devices for enhanced user-centric inter-cell mobility management

Systems and methods of transmitting and receiving combined uplink control information (UCI) in respect of downlink assignments are provided. The UE is configured to combine certain UCI based on a property of downlink assignment, such as PDCCH ID, beam information, CORESET. The UE may also be configured to determine which UCI having the same value of the property of downlink assignment to combine. This can be based on a value-specific monitoring window or a monitoring window that is common to multiple values of the assignment property.

Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) retransmissions based on User Equipment (UE) cooperation involves a first UE receiving a transmission comprising a data block that is destined for a second UE, and transmitting the data block toward the second UE according to a data block retransmission mechanism to enable the second UE to identify the data block transmitted from the first UE as being one of a plurality of concurrent transmissions of the data block according to the data block retransmission mechanism. The concurrent transmissions of the data block are processable by the second UE in combination to determine a reception status of the data block.

Methods, apparatus, and systems for hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) retransmissions based on user equipment (UE) cooperation

A method for reference signal processing is provided. In this example, the method includes receiving, by a UE, a message from a network device, where the message indicates both that a first reference signal is to be transmitted over a first resource and that a second reference signal is to be transmitted over a second resource. The method also includes receiving, by the UE, at least the first reference signal in accordance with capabilities of the UE and the message received from the network device.

An indication signal is used for indicating to a UE a communication resource for a second reference signal that is part of a higher-layer configuration from a first base station. The communication resource for the second reference signal is associated with a second base station. A UE that receives an indication signal communicates with the second base station. A data transmission or a control signal transmission could be communicated with the second base station using a respective data channel or control channel. The data channel or control channel is associated with the communication resource for the second reference signal.

User equipment-centric inter-cell mobility

Aspects of the present application use diversity of more than one TCI state, QCL assumption, precoder and/or SRI on the network side to enable multiple transmission beams in a transmission period having multiple transmission opportunities to provide robust beam transmission from the network side. An example of transmission opportunities in a transmission period may be OFDM symbols in a slot. Aspects of the present application use diversity of more than one TCI state, QCL assumption, precoder and/or SRI at the UE to enable the UE to transmit multiple transmission beams in a configured transmission period having multiple transmission opportunities to provide robust transmission from the UEs. When using multiple transmission beams, in the event that data transmitted on one beam cannot be decoded (e.g. due to beam blockage, poor radio conditions, etc.), data transmitted on other beams can still be decoded successfully.
