An exercise machine is disclosed. The exercise machine comprises a motor, an actuator, an arm, and a cable. The cable is coupled between the motor and the actuator through the arm. The motor is configured to provide a nominal tension of resistance when an end of the cable is within a range of length from a zero point associated with the cable.

An exercise machine includes a cable. It further includes an interface to a moveable camera device coupled with the exercise machine. It further includes a processor configured to receive a cable-based measurement associated with an exercise performed by a user. The processor is further configured to receive, from the moveable camera device, video information associated with the exercise. The processor is further configured to provide a workout determination based at least in part on both the cable-based measurement and the video information received from the moveable camera device.

A first determination that a range of motion of a user of an exercise machine is between pre-determined motion thresholds is made. While the range of motion of the user is between the pre-determined motion thresholds, a velocity of the cable being below a pre-determined velocity threshold is determined.
