A method of charging a package with dosed bulk material, includes the steps of filling the package in a pre-filling station to an extent less than a desired final weight; weighing the partially filled package; determining the difference between actual and desired weight of the package; advancing the partially filled package to an after-filling station; and filling the package in the after-filling station with additional bulk material having a weight corresponding to the determined weight difference. Metering of the additional bulk material and readying the additional bulk material for delivery into the package are started before the package assumes a charging position in the after-filling station.

Method and apparatus for fine-dosing bulk material

A dual bag has an inner liner and an outer wrap, a flatly pressed closing flap arranged in a face-to-face relationship with a top face of the bag. The flap has a closing ear at least at one of its ends. A transverse seam is provided in the closing flap along its outer bounding edge for sealing the bag. The closing flap is formed by portions of both the inner liner and the outer wrap and further, the transverse seam is located at a distance from the outer bounding edge of the closing flap. A cut extends into the closing flap from its outer bounding edge in the vicinity of at least one closing ear; the cut extends through both the inner liner and the outer wrap. Further, the distance of the transverse seam from the upper face of the bag is at least three times the width of the transverse seam.

A method of manufacturing a container with a lid comprising folding a blank of material to form an inner lid element having a flat bottom and a frame along at least two sides of said bottom, placing the inner lid element into an open end of a filled container with the bottom of the inner lid element facing into the container, placing a blank of material for an outer lid element against the frame of the lid element and joining the outer lid element to the inner lid element.

A package assembly has a group formed of a plurality of individual, gas-pervious packages; a gas-impervious wrapper surrounding the group airtight; and a one-way pressure relief valve affixed to the wrapper for discharging gases from the space between the wrapper and the individual packages.

Package assembly and method of packaging

A dosing system for filling a receptacle with a predetermined desired weight of flowable bulk material. The system has a main dosing apparatus for charging the receptable to an extent less than the predetermined weight and an additional dosing apparatus for complementally charging each receptacle to an extent equal to the deviation between the desired weight and the actual weight resulting from the charging by the main dosing apparatus. The additional dosing apparatus has a dispensing wheel having a plurality of cells of predetermined volume. There is further provided a movably supported shroud member having a shroud face extending along a circumferential portion of the wheel and separating an inlet chamber from an outlet chamber. The position of the shroud member is adjustable for determining a minimum clearance between the shroud face and the periphery of the wheel. A spring urges the shroud member towards the wheel for allowing a resilient yielding movement of the shroud member away from the wheel. A stepping motor is coupled to the wheel for rotating the same to discharge the bulk material. A scale determines the above-defined actual weight of the receptacle. A motor-actuating arrangement causes rotation of the wheel through as many cell divisions as necessary to charge the receptacle up to the desired weight value.

System for the accurate dosing of bulk material

In a system including a bag forming apparatus for forming a succession of bags, bag filling and closing apparatus, and a conveying apparatus for conveying each bag, after it is formed, along a conveying path from the bag forming apparatus to the filling and closing apparatus, the system production speed is increased by disposing the bag forming apparatus laterally to one side of the conveying path and associating the bag forming apparatus with a bag transporting member arranged to transport each bag, after it has been formed, into the conveying path, whereby the conveying apparatus can convey bags which were previously formed along the conveying path during at least a portion of the bag forming operating cycle of the bag forming apparatus.

System for forming, filling and closing bags

A package arranged to be opened at its top and composed of a flexible inner bag of sealable material having a flat sealed top, a jacket having a rectangular cross section and made of a stiff material, the jacket enclosing the bag and having an open end located at the top of the package and protruding beyond the flat sealed top of the bag, and a lid of stiff material having a flat portion of rectangular shape corresponding to the cross section of the jacket and adhesively secured to the flat bag top and bent edge strips joined to the flat portion and adhesively secured to the inner surfaces to the protruding portion of the jacket to join the inner bag and the jacket together.
