In an example, a method of fusing a 3D object layer with a stationary energy system positioned and a carriage that casts a shadow onto the work area includes, with one pass of the carriage moving over the work area at a constant speed, dispensing a liquid fusing agent onto a first layer of build material in a pattern corresponding to an object slice such that the exposure time of the patterned build material is unequal across the first layer and, with another pass of the carriage moving over the work area in the same direction and at the same constant speed as the first pass, spreading the next layer of build material over the first layer such that the exposure time of the patterned build material in the first layer is made equal across the first layer.

Fusing three-dimensional (3D) object layers

In one example, a fusing system for an additive manufacturing machine includes a fusing lamp to heat build material in the work area, a heat sensor to measure a heat output of the fusing lamp, and a controller operatively connected to the fusing lamp and to the heat sensor to adjust the heat output of the fusing lamp to the work area based on a heat output measured by the heat sensor.

An apparatus, system, and method for cooling a lamp assembly is described herein. The apparatus includes an air channel and an axial slot. A flow of air is injected into the air channel of a lamp housing, wherein the lamp housing comprises at least a bulb. The axial slot is located in a reflector housing and has dimensions that enable a constant flow of air through the slot and across the bulb when a predetermined air flow is input to the air channel.

In one example, a roller control process for a 3D printer includes stopping the layering roller rotating at angular home before the roller reaches linear home at the end of a fusing pass, measuring the duration between when the roller reaches angular home and when the roller reaches linear home, and, if the duration exceeds a threshold, then stopping the roller rotating at angular home at a distance closer to linear home in subsequent fusing passes until the duration does not exceed the threshold.

In one example in accordance with the present disclosure an apparatus for attaching to a shaft using a wedge is described. The apparatus includes a disc having a longitudinal axis. At least a portion of the disc is insertable into a shaft and is expandable against an inside diameter of the shaft. The disc has a recess at the longitudinal axis. A wedge to be inserted into the recess pushes the portion of the disc that is insertable into the shaft against an inside diameter of the shaft.

An example support structure assembly is described as including a brace, a media guide, and a compression member. An example brace includes a structure defining a mount area on a first surface of the brace and a first protrusion extending from a second surface of the brace. An example media guide includes a blade member, a hinge member, and a second protrusion extending away from the hinge member. An example compression member is coupled to the first protrusion of the brace and the second protrusion of the media guide to place a force on the media guide where a vector defines the force with a first component magnitude in a first direction towards the mount area that is greater than a second component magnitude in a second direction away from the mount area.

A printer mechanism includes a printhead to print on a print medium, and a platen located generally adjacent the printhead such that the platen and the printhead define a print zone therebetween. The platen includes a plurality of elongate ribs that project from an upper surface of the platen in a spaced relationship and positioned to contact a lower surface of the print medium such that the print medium bends downwardly between the ribs to provide an undulated section of the print medium with hills and valleys in the print zone. At least one shape control mechanism transforms each of the hills in the print zone into a corresponding valley in an output path adjacent to the print zone and transforms each of the valleys in the print zone into a corresponding hill in the output path.

A method of printing includes ejecting ink drops onto a bottom portion of a print media from ink orifices of a first portion of a printhead; after ejecting ink drops from the first portion of the printhead, advancing the print media; and after advancing the print media, ejecting ink drops onto the bottom portion of the print media from ink orifices of a second portion of the printhead. The second portion of the printhead is smaller than the first portion of the printhead and excludes ink orifices toward an end of the printhead opposite a direction of the advancing of the print media.

A printing device component may include a base surface and a plurality of ribs extending away from the base surface. Each rib may include a nominal guiding surface, one or more primary transition surfaces, one or more secondary transition surfaces, and one or more angled surfaces. Each primary transition surface may begin at a top surface and end at a secondary transition surface. Each secondary transition surface may begin at a primary transition surface and end at an angled surface. Each angled surface may begin at a secondary transition surface and end at the base surface.

Embodiments of electrostatic blower system for use in computer systems or other electronic device, e.g., in inkjet printers for cooling or drying operations, are disclosed. An exemplary method may include arranging a plurality of electrostatic blowers together to increase output pressure. The method may also include positioning the arranged electrostatic blowers directly adjacent a point of use in a printer device. The method may also include directing and accelerating airflow using a corona discharge in each of the plurality of electrostatic blowers for cooling or drying operations in the printer device.
