Disclosed are aqueous coating compositions containing a latex having pendant amine-functional groups, wherein such latex has a Tg greater than about 0 .degree. C. and is capable of film formation at application temperatures, and an amount of base sufficient to raise the pH of the composition to a point where essentially all of the amine functional groups are in a non-ionic state. Also disclosed are methods for producing fast drying coatings on suitable substrates by application of such coatings, where such coatings develop early water-resistance.

The present invention relates to fast drying waterborne printing inks and to method of using such inks in high speed printing processes, such rotogravure and flexographic printing processes. The printing ink includes, for example, a blend of a latex binder and a polyfunctional amine. The pH of the ink is raised by adding a sufficient amount of base, to a point where essentially all of the polyfunctional amine in the blend is in a deprotonated state.

The present invention is directed to a method of producing wear resistant traffic paint composition. This invention relates to a non-aqueous coating composition and a method for reducing the drying time of a non-aqueous coating composition by incorporating composite polymer particles having a softer, insoluble first stage and a hard second stage without adversely affecting the viscosity and pot life of the liquid coating composition and without degrading the properties of the final dry coating, including color, flexibility, impact resistance, gasoline resistance, salt spray resistance and humidity resistance.

Stable, aqueous emulsion copolymers with controllable siloxane crosslinking functionality are provided. These copolymers are prepared by a concurrent free radical and cationic initiated emulsion polymerization of at least one free radical initiatable monomer at least one linear siloxane precursor monomer, and at least one bifunctional silane monomer having both free radical polymerizable and silicon functional groups.
