An external defibrillator apparatus () operates to deliver electrical shocks to the heart muscles of a patient using a self-contained piezoelectric power source. The apparatus has a body () which includes a handle portion () in fixed operative connection with disposed paddle portions (). Each paddle portion includes a respective electrode (). Manual movement of a trigger () is operative to cause circuitry () which includes a piezoelectric crystal () to develop sufficient electrical potential between the electrodes to deliver the electrical shocks to the heart muscles through external contact with the patient's chest.

An autogenous impact mill () is operative to size reduce friable material particles processed through operation of the mill. An improved catalytic converter includes a Coanda chamber assembly connected upstream of a catalytic reaction chamber, where the exhaust pipe is to be connected to the Coanda chamber assembly. The Coanda chamber assembly forms a Coanda chamber that has at least one narrower section and at least one wider section immediately downstream of the narrower section, with openings formed at the narrowest point of a narrower section. In operation, when engine exhaust gas is fed into the Coanda chamber, the gas pressure increases at the narrower section, and drops when the gas enters the wider section. As a result, air is sucked into the Coanda chamber via the openings and mixes with the exhaust gas. This lowers the exhaust temperature and enhances the efficiency of the catalytic reactions in the catalytic reaction chamber.

Aerodynamic catalytic converter

An alloy is created by melting aluminum, zinc, rare earth metals such as erbium and/or tellurium, and optionally vanadium. During cooling, the molten alloy is exposed to ultrasonic waves in order to prevent separation of the alloy into layers. The alloy is used for one electrode and a separate conductive element such as stainless steel or carbon is used for the other electrode in a water filter. A constant potential difference and electrical current is created between the two electrodes across the water. In an embodiment where carbon or zeolite is used as the filtration medium, the constant voltage and current increase bonding of ions in the filtration medium with pollutants in the water. In an embodiment wherein a mixed bed resin containing sodium ions and potassium ions is used as the filtration medium, the constant voltage and current increase the bonding of the sodium and potassium ions with residual chlorine ions in the water. The resulting sodium chloride salts and the potassium chloride salts also assist in regenerating the mixed bed resin.

Reduction of moisture in harvested crop particles. Waste heat from an internal engine carried by a harvester is applied to the crop during the harvesting process. Microwave energy is applied to the crop, concurrently with application of the heat, or separately from it. The objective is to reduce the moisture to a level acceptable to a storage facility, or at least to reduce the cost of further reduction.

Described is a self-cleaning filter for a liquid stream confined in a pipe,. The filter includes a porous ceramic filter body,having a power source,attached thereto. Upstream from the filter body a helical rib,and a sump drain tube,are provided. In operation, as the filter becomes clogged, an electrical current is applied causing the ceramic body to exhibit ultrasonic transducer properties which dislodge particulates from its upstream face,. At the same time, a sump valve,is opened to remove the particulate-rich liquid. The helical rib imparts a rotary motion which creates a rotary flow component across the upstream face of the filter.
