A rotary handle for attachment to a proximal end of a catheter. The handle comprises a handle member, and a tubular grip member rotatably affixed in generally coaxial relation about a portion of the handle member. An apertured, elastomeric block is provided to permit connection to the proximal end of a catheter. The handle member and grip member are relatively rotatable, to provide corresponding rotation of a connected catheter, typically through a predetermined rotation range, while preventing further catheter rotation to prevent its over rotation while emplaced in a patient. Preferably, the catheter defines a proximal, rigid, tubular tip that passes through the elastomeric block. Also, the catheter may have a steering wire having a zig-zag proximal end positioned within the rigid, tubular tip under compression so that the zig-zag end is frictionally retained within the tubular tip to cause the steering wire to rotate the catheter.

Limited turn handle for catheter

The quick connect/disconnect tubing adapter is used for capturing a tubing within the adapter in a generally sterile manner. The adapter comprises two mating body portions which have passageways for receiving a tubing end portion. A tubing is received in and fixed in the passageways and is adapted to contract around the tubing end portion when the body portions are pulled away from each other. Additionally, a locking mechanism is provided for releasably locking the body portions together in a pulled apart position with the tubing end portion captured in the tubing.

The multi-mode guidewire selectively allows the creation of varying degrees of flexibility at varying locations of the guidewire. An elongate coiled wire body of the guidewire is capable of assuming an arcuate shape adjacent to its capped distal end. The coiled wire body may be made less flexible by a curve control core wire which is positionable by means of a knob at its proximal end. The curve control core wire includes a region of moderate flexibility in its distal region which can be stiffened by a stiffening member. The stiffening member is positionable by a handle located at its proximal end. A method of advancing a catheter and the guidewire includes selecting a most advantageous mode of use of the guidewire for advancement.

Multi-mode guidewire

A feedthrough is provided for mounting in and electrically insulating a conductive wire from the casing of a device such as a battery cell for a cardiac pacer. The feedthrough is a non-glass member at least a portion of which was cured in situ and formed to a shape and size generally complementary to the shape and size of the casing opening through which it is mounted and to the shape and size of the conductive wire that it mounts.

The method for closing and sealing the opening of a wall of a container includes the steps of: providing the opening with a counterbore; inserting a first plug member into said opening in a fluid tight manner to establish a first seal; inserting a second plug member into said counterbore and above said first plug member and said opening; and fixing and sealing said second plug member to said wall around said counterbore so that a fluid tight second seal is formed between said second plug member and said wall thereby to provide a double seal for preventing leakage of fluid material from said container through said opening. The fluid tight closure assembly is adapted to provide a fluid tight closure for closing and sealing the opening in the wall of the container having fluid material therein. The closure assembly includes a first plug member which is inserted into the opening in the wall of the container in a fluid tight manner to establish a first seal, the opening being provided with a counterbore. The plug assembly further includes a second plug member which is adapted to be inserted into the counterbore above the first plug member and the opening. The second plug member is permanently fixed to the wall around the counterbore in a fluid tight manner so that a fluid tight second seal is formed between the second plug member and the wall thereby to provide a double seal for preventing leakage of fluid material from the container through the opening.
