Linen treatment compositions and linen processes are disclosed which help to prevent iron deposition from wash water, and/or redeposition after iron containing stain (such as blood) removal by alkaline detergents. The linen treatment composition is a combination of a hydroxycarboxylic acid and an acid source, which may be organic or inorganic. The invention provides for effective iron control in a phosphorus-free formula that is also free of toxic or hazardous chemicals and includes sustainable, environmentally friendly ingredients, while still providing effective iron control.

Solid rinsing, cleaning and/or sanitizing compositions for various applications are provided. In particular, solid compositions include a complex of urea and an acid having desirable storage stability previously unavailable in solid urea/acid compositions. Stable solid compositions are disclosed and methods of making the same to overcome conventional limitations associated with forming kinetically and thermodynamically stable solids that utilize urea/acid compositions.

Low concentration surfactant emulsions and methods of making and using the same are disclosed herein. The emulsions have the benefit of employing less surfactant than conventional emulsions. Further, the emulsions are dilutable and retain their stability upon dilution. A benefit of the emulsions is that they leave a low residue, preferably no residue, on a surface after contact.

Dilutable dispersions

A composition comprises from 0.1 to 30 wt-% of one or more amino acids, 0.1 to 30 wt-% of one or more surfactants, and optionally one or more hydrotropes. The amino acids may be selected from arginine ('ARG'), lysine ('LYS'), histidine (&#x201c;HIS&#x201d;), glycine (&#x201c;GLY&#x201d;), or combinations thereof. The composition can be formulated as a cleaning composition, such as a hard surface cleaner, a floor cleaner, or a degreaser. The composition can be used in a method for treating a surface, where the composition is applied to the surface and allowed to remain on the surface for a length of time, and the surface is then wiped.

A catalyzed highly alkaline cleaning composition for cleaning stainless steel and other surfaces, namely those treated in clean-in-place processes, is disclosed. The composition comprises gluconic acid or salt thereof (e.g. gluconate) to serve as a corrosion and stain inhibitor for the high alkalinity compositions. The composition retains the cleaning and corrosion prevention properties of conventional clean-in-place solutions while being less expensive to produce.

Catalyzed non-staining high alkaline CIP cleaner

A water hardness controlling agent includes a polyacrylic acid or salt thereof having a molecular weight of between about 1,000 and about 50,000 g/mol, an acrylic-maleic acid copolymer or salt thereof having a molecular weight of between about 1,000 and about 100,000 g/mol and a phosphonocarboxylic acid or salt thereof. A ratio of acrylic-maleic acid copolymer or salt thereof to polyacrylic acid or salt thereof to phosphonocarboxylic acid or salt thereof in parts per million is about 1-30:10-80:6-20.

Formulation of a ware washing solid controlling hardness

The present invention includes methods and compositions control hard water in an alkaline environment. According to the invention, a unique combination of polymers has been developed which helps to completely control and eliminate hard water. The composition includes a maleic polymer, a hydroxypolycarboxylic acid, and a starch based polymer in a unique synergistic combination that can be used alone, or in combination with standard alkaline detergents in any cleaning regime (laundry, warewash, etc.) where hard water conditions exist.

The invention generally relates to concentrated warewashing compositions and methods of using the same. In some aspects, the invention uses concentrated compositions in methods of warewashing where the concentrate is applied directly to the article to be cleaned, rather than dispensed into a sump and applied to the article as a ready-to-use composition. In additional aspects, the methods of using highly concentrated alkaline and/or acid compositions in an alternating pattern of alkaline-acid-alkaline or acid-alkaline-acid, or the like, provide substantially similar or superior cleaning efficacy while reducing the overall consumption of the alkaline and/or acid compositions.

Concentrated warewashing compositions and methods

Warewashing detergents suitable for dishwashing, immersion or dipping cleaning, and hard surface cleaning are disclosed for use on hard surfaces, including for example alkaline sensitive metals, such as aluminum or aluminum containing alloys. Alkaline compositions of a mixture of phosphono ethane carboxylates phosphono oligomers and methods employing the same are disclosed. The compositions eliminate the use of highly abrasive silicates, while retaining cleaning performance and corrosion prevention. The compositions according to the invention prevent the corrosive effect of highly alkaline compositions on aluminum or aluminum containing alloys.

The use of ferric hydroxycarboxylate as a chelator and builder for cleaning compositions is disclosed. The cleaning composition may be formulated for warewashing, laundering, and for other means of removing soils and includes a ferric hydroxycarboxylate, an alkalinity source and a surfactant system. The cleaning composition has a pH of between about 9 and about 12.
