A multi-layer film for reducing microbial contamination on a surface. The multi-layer film can include a core layer having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface, an adhesive layer disposed adjacent the first surface of the core layer, and an antimicrobial layer disposed adjacent the second surface. The antimicrobial layer can include a cross-linked matrix and an antimicrobial agent dispersed within the cross-linked matrix, where the cross-linked matrix is derived from a polymerizable precursor comprising a material selected from the group consisting of a polymerizable monomer, a polymerizable polymer having a molecular weight of about 1,000 or less, and combinations thereof.

Epoxy reactive liquid modifiers include acrylate functionalized compounds, acrylamide functionalized compounds, oxalic amide functionalized compounds, actoacetoxy functionalized urethanes and acetoacetoxy functionalized polyalkenes. The reactive liquid modifiers are incorporated into epoxy resin compositions comprising a curable epoxy resin, an amine curing agent, and the reactive liquid modifier, wherein the reactive liquid modifier is polymerized to form at least one of an interpenetrating polymer network and a semi-interpenetrating polymer network with the curable epoxy resin.

A two-part epoxy-based structural adhesive composition comprising a curable epoxy resin, an amine curing agent, a toughening agent, and an oil-displacing agent. The present invention provides a curable composition for use in retarding the formation of biofilms. The curable composition comprises a polymer derived from ethylenically unsaturated units having pendent long-chain aliphatic groups; ethylenically unsaturated units having pendent poly(oxyalkylene) groups; and ethylenically unsaturated units having pendent substrate-reactive groups; and a crosslinking agent.

A composition for electrophoretic deposition of an insulating, protective coating. The composition comprises a cationic resin emulsion; and a curative mixed with the cationic resin emulsion. The composition after electrophoretic deposition and curing provides the protective coating that has a concentration of extractable ionic contaminants less than about 200 nanograms/cm ; and a concentration of labile components less than about 36,000 nanograms/cm . A coating composition according to the present invention provides an article in the form of a flexible printed circuit, used as an interconnect, comprising a film substrate and a plurality of conductive traces adjacent to a surface of the film substrate to receive the insulating protective coating using electrophoretic deposition techniques.

In one aspect, the invention provides a curable composition comprising a mixture of epoxy resin, catalyst and an epoxy reactive thioether-containing compound and the resulting adhesives. The resulting adhesives are water and/or solvent resistant and bond to plastics such as ABS, polycarbonate, and PMMA; polyimide; noble metals such as gold and palladium; and silicon-containing materials such as silicon wafer die and silicon dioxide.

A photoimageable, aqueous acid soluble polyimide polymer comprising an anhydride, including a substituted benzophenone nucleus, a diamine reacted with the anhydride to form a photosensitive polymer intermediate, and at least 60 Mole % of solubilizing amine reacted with the photosensitive polymer intermediate to form the photoimageable, aqueous acid soluble polyimide polymer. An emulsion for electrophoretic deposition of a coating of a photoimageable, aqueous acid soluble polyimide polymer comprises a dispersed phase, including the photoimageable aqueous acid soluble polyimide polymer, dissolved in an organic solvent and a dispersion phase including a coalescence promoter and water. The emulsion may be applied, by electrophoretic deposition, to a conductive structure to provide a photoimageable coating on the conductive structure. After exposing the coating to a pattern of radiation for photocrosslinking exposed parts of the photoimageable aqueous acid soluble polyimide polymer, an aqueous acid developer solution removes unexposed photoimageable aqueous acid soluble polyimide polymer to reveal a crosslinked polyimide polymer image of the radiation pattern.

A composition comprises organoborane polyamine complex and polyol. The composition can form a part of a polymerization initiator system that also includes polyisocyanate. The system can be used to initiate polymerization of acrylic monomer and to form a polyurethane/polyurea acrylic adhesive that has exceptionally good adhesion to low surface energy polymers.
