A first device is configured to establish a connection over a short-range communication link with a second device. The first device may transition to a sleep state, terminate (i) a paging operation and a page scanning operation associated with a paging protocol and (ii) an advertisement scanning operation associated with an advertisement protocol and perform an advertisement broadcast operation associated with the advertisement protocol, the advertisement broadcast operation generating an advertisement to be broadcast at a first interval, wherein the first interval is greater than a second interval for performing advertisement broadcast operations in an active state.

Low-power activation of accessory in sleep state

System and methods for using channel quality reports to reduce inter-band interference are disclosed. Channel information is received at a first wireless communication device from a second wireless communication device. The first wireless device is operating in a first frequency range, and the second wireless device is operating in a second frequency range. The first frequency range is adjacent to the second frequency range. A channel quality report is generated at the first wireless communication device. The channel quality report indicates that particular sub-bands in the first frequency range have low channel quality. The particular sub-bands are selected using the channel information.

LTE transmission mask adjustment to maximize performance and reduce interference

An apparatus and method for transmitting audio with coexisting wireless networks. In one embodiment, a wireless device includes a first wireless network controller and a second wireless network controller. The first wireless network controller and the second wireless network controller are configured to access a wireless communication medium via a shared antenna, and to transmit, via the wireless communication medium, data received from a host device. The second wireless network controller includes an audio stream detector configured to determine, based on the contents of the data received from the host device, whether an audio stream is to be transmitted via the second wireless network controller, and to request that the second wireless network controller be given access priority to the antenna over the first wireless network controller, based on a determination that the audio stream is to be transmitted via the second wireless network controller.

Audio stream identification by a wireless network controller

An audio output device may join an existing session between a source device and another audio output device. The source device may transmit audio data associated with an audio session, using a first frequency band, to a first wireless audio output device and transmit connection information associated with the audio session to a second wireless audio output device over a second frequency band. The second frequency band differs from the first frequency band and the connection information allows the second wireless audio output device to join the audio session. After transmitting the connection information, the source device may transmit subsequent audio data associated with the audio session to the first wireless audio output device and the second wireless audio output device.

Joining an existing audio session

Embodiments relate to an integrated circuit of an electronic device that coordinates activities with another integrated circuit of the electronic device. The integrated circuit includes an interface circuit and a processor circuit. The interface circuit communicates over a multi-drop bus connected to multiple electronic components. The processor circuit receives an authorization request from the integrated circuit via the interface circuit and the multi-drop bus. The received authorization request relates to authorization to perform an activity on the other integrated circuit. In response to receiving the authorization request, the processor circuit determines whether the other integrated circuit is authorized to execute the activity. In response to determining that the other integrated circuit is authorized to execute the activity, the processor circuit sends, to the other integrated circuit over a configurable direct connection, an authorization signal authorizing the other integrated circuit to execute the activity.

System for link management between multiple communication chips

A user equipment (UE) tunes a transceiver of the UE to a first frequency associated with a first channel, transmits a first short packet to a second UE on the first channel and determines whether a first indication was received from the second UE in response to the first short packet. The first indication indicates that the first channel satisfies one or more predetermined criteria. The UE transmits then the primary data to the second UE on the first channel in response to the first indication being received from the second UE.

Feedback-based frequency hopping

Exemplary embodiments include a system having a first device and a second device that are configured to establish a connection via a short-range protocol. The first and second devices perform an advertisement process to automatically identify that the first and second devices are capable of establishing the connection, the advertisement process comprising one of the first device or second device broadcasting an advertisement and the other one of the first device or the second device scanning for the advertisement, wherein, upon the first and second devices identifying that they are capable of establishing the connection, the first and second devices perform a paging mechanism to establish the connection, the paging mechanism comprising one of the first device or the second device transmitting a page and the other one of the first device or the second device scanning for the page, wherein the page triggers an operation to establish the connection.

Establishing a short-range communication pathway

The exemplary embodiments relate to implementing techniques for transmission of audio data from both of a pair of audio output devices to a user equipment (UE). A first wireless audio output device establishes a communication link to a source device using a wireless communication protocol, receives source audio data from the source device, receives secondary audio data from a second wireless audio output device and combines primary audio data from the first wireless audio output device with the secondary audio data into a consolidated audio packet. The consolidated packet is then transmitted to the source device.

Transmitting microphone audio from two or more audio output devices to a source device

Communication between a source device and one or more pairs of accessory devices and between accessory devices within pairs of accessory devices is scheduled using slot availability masks (SAMs). A primary accessory device provides to the source device information about requirements for communication between the primary accessory device and a secondary accessory device. The source device determines a SAM map that specifies a periodic cycle of time slots, with time slots marked as available or unavailable for transmission and/or reception. The SAM map satisfies requirements to avoid collisions between communication between the source device and the accessory devices and communication between accessory devices within pairs of accessory devices. When multiple pairs of accessory devices establish connections with the source device, internal communication between accessory devices within pairs of accessory devices are aligned to use at least a common overlapping set of time slots.

Optimized Bluetooth scheduling for accessory devices

Methods and apparatus for communicating audio packets with ultra-low latency at high data rates from an audio source device to one or more audio output devices over a wireless personal area network (WPAN) connection, such as via a Bluetooth connection. Latency is reduced by using time-efficient audio coding and decoding, limited retransmissions, reduced time and frequency of acknowledgements, and by combining Bluetooth Classic (BTC) packets for downlink audio and downlink control with Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE) packets for uplink control, uplink acknowledgements, and inter-device wireless communication. The number of retransmissions and packet concealments per frame cycle can be limited to an upper threshold number to satisfy a low latency requirement.
