A computational instance may includes a set of computing devices and a configuration management database (CMDB), wherein the CMDB contains a representation of a service deployed on a managed network, wherein the representation of the service includes metadata, service group membership, and an entry point, and wherein the computational instance is configured to: receive an instruction to export the representation of the service to a file; copy, to a metadata object in the file, the metadata; determine a hierarchical subset of the service groups that are related to the service; write, to one or more service group objects in the file, the hierarchical subset of the service groups; determine, from a list of entry points of the managed network, that the entry point is of the service; and write, to an entry point object in the file, the entry point.

Intelligent export and import of service representations

Attributes of a configuration item record of a configuration management database (CMDB) are received. Based on the received attributes, a determination is made that the configuration item record belongs to a new child class and no longer belongs to a previously identified child class. While maintaining a same identifier in the configuration item record, a classification of the configuration item record is changed to the new child class including by adding one or more attributes of the new child class to the configuration item record and removing one or more attributes of the previously identified child class from the configuration item record.

A computational instance of a remote network management platform includes a persistent storage that contains a plurality of CI records corresponding to a set of computing devices disposed within a managed network, a set of software applications configured to execute on the set of computing devices, and a network-based service that is provided by execution of the set of software applications. The computational instance also includes one or more server devices configured to: receive an indication of a change to a CI record of the plurality of CI records; add, to a flapper candidates table in the persistent storage, a new value for a field of the CI record; determine, using a flapper detection strategy, flapper strategy data based on the new value and at least one old value for the field; and determine, based on the flapper strategy data, whether to trigger a re-computation of the service model.

Identifying and mitigating configuration item flapping

A computational instance of a remote network management platform includes a database that contains a plurality of CI records corresponding to a set of computing devices, a set of software applications, and a network-based service. The database also contains a definition of a service model that represents the set of computing devices, the set of software applications, and relationships therebetween that facilitate providing the network-based service. The computational instance also includes one or more server devices configured: to receive an indication of a change to a CI record of the plurality of CI record; add, to a change record table, a change record corresponding to the change to the CI record; select, for the service layer based on a change type specified in the change record, a service model re-computation mode; and re-compute a service layer in accordance with the service model re-computation mode.

Service model re-computation based on configuration item change type

A system and method are disclosed for adapting audio notifications associated with events in a managed network. The system may include a database for storing speech-characteristics parameters for mapping event characteristics to speech characteristics. The server device may receive a message indicating occurrence of a network event. The message may be processed to designate a particular user for notification of the event, and to determine a text message associated with the event, as well as specific event characteristics of the event. Specific speech characteristics for an audio recording of synthesized speech of the text message may be determined by mapping the specific event characteristics to user-specific parameters of the particular user. The audio recording of the synthesized speech may be generated according to the specific speech characteristics using a text-to-speech engine, and then transmitted to a client device of the particular user for playout according to the specific speech characteristics.

Adaptable audio notifications

A system and a process are disclosed for selective discovery of services. Present embodiments include a graphical user interface (GUI) that enables a designer to create and configure a discovery schedule that includes one or more filters. These filters enable the designer to define particular attributes and attribute values of services or service groups. Each time the discovery schedule is executed, the discovery scheduler again determines which currently defined services satisfy the conditions of the filters, and then instructs a discovery server to discover only the qualifying services associated with a client network.
