One embodiment of a display system includes a first light source that projects a first projected video light to define a first viewable video image, a second light source that projects a second projected video light to define a second viewable video image identical to the first viewable video image wherein the first and second viewable video images together define a displayed video light image, and a controller that fades out projection of the first projected video light and simultaneously fades in projection of the second projected video light such that a light intensity of the displayed video light image remains substantially constant.

System and related methods for dynamically compiling a publication

A document is operatively coupled to a printing device, either directly or through a network such as the Internet. A print schedule is stored that keeps track of when a document should be printed on the printing device. When the print schedule indicates the document should be printed, the document is automatically transmitted to the printing device without user intervention. The printing device automatically prints the document, again without user intervention. The document can be stored on a electronic device, such as a personal computer connected to the printing device, or can be stored on a document server accessible to the printing device through the Internet. A user profile is stored that contains information about the recipient of the document, such as name, email address, household income, and interests. This user profile is updated when a document is printed on the printing device. This user profile can be used to select specific information of interest to the user to be included in a personalized document. Since advertising can also be included in the document, the user profile can also be used to select advertising likely to be of interest to the user to be included in the personalized document. A product can be subsidized for a user, based on the information contained in the user profile. For example, if a user profile indicates that a specific user has printed a specific number of 'preferred' documents, such as those documents containing advertising or otherwise under the control of the document delivery system, a product such as a print consumable, such as an inkjet cartridge or a laser toner cartridge, can automatically be sent to the user. Likewise, printable media such as paper can also automatically be sent to user. Alternatively, coupons for free or discounted products such as those described above can be mailed, sent electronically, or otherwise distributed to the user.

Document delivery system for automatically printing a document on a printing device

The present invention provides a method, a computer-readable medium and a digital content delivery service system for sending and validating/auditing delivery of e-media. The method includes the steps of: obtaining/receiving e-media of a sender/user wherein the sender/user has indicated a requested type of delivery of the e-media to a client/receiving party, wherein the client is a software application; accessing an account of the sender/user to obtain sender/user information; sending the e-media to the client/receiving party; and receiving a validation/audit of the requested type of delivery upon receipt/consumption of the e-media by the client/receiving party.

A method for printing one or more documents operatively coupled to a printing device is presented, the method comprising issuing a request to retrieve one or more documents from an associated one or more providers in response to an indication received from a user. Receiving the requested one or more documents in a print manager operatively coupled to the printing device, and printing the retrieved one or more documents from the printing module, without invoking an application associated with the one or more documents, or otherwise displaying the one or more documents to the user.

For documents to be delivered via an automatic delivery system, a client-server solution ensures that a requested document is delivered and printed for instances when the requested document cannot be published at the time of normal scheduled delivery or print schedule. This aspect is particularly useful when the server is experiencing peak loads or if some document components are not available at the time of the normal scheduled delivery.

A user of a portable device may request a full-length information set be sent to a high capacity presentation apparatus for printing. A truncated or compressed information set is displayed on the portable device, which the user may select for later printing of the full-length information on the high capacity presentation apparatus when the portable device is synchronized.

Printing portable-selected information

A document delivery system retrieves a periodically changing document. First, an address for the document is obtained. Next a temporal field is located within the address. The temporal field of the address is then modified to reflect a new instance. Then using the modified address, an updated document is retrieved.

Method and apparatus for modifying temporal addresses

A document delivery system comprising a data store of content objects and a publishing agent is presented. One or more of the content objects are selected and retrieved to comprise a personalized publication. The publishing agent finalizes at least a partial layout of content objects and schedules publication of the personalized publication based, at least in part, on a measure of complexity of the personalized publication.

Agent and method for dynamically scheduling publication in an automated document delivery system

A method of communicating electronic information via a display device having a matrix of movable tactile elements. The method includes displaying a representation of a file containing hypertext links on a first portion of the matrix, and displaying a list of the hypertext links on a second portion of the matrix. The representation may include graphical elements and text symbols such as Braille.
